Hello I on behalf of #Every-Photo 's am here to provide my critique.

Honestly speaking, being a person who takes photographs occasionally, I'll go for a free form critique to emphasize what this picture means to me, and hence how I would perceive it as a viewer...

The first thing I noticed was the Eastern European book below the watch (I own a chain watch too, how antiquate honestly - and a quartz at that) alongside the ambiguity of the environment gives this work... a multi-dimensional complexion.

On one side, it emphasizes that our lives have become constrained and we lack the required moments for ourselves to think and procrastinate over ourselves or what we like. That is the story of our lives. What gives that credence is the contrast between the watch and the book (the person's reading a polish book, when the watch is an international brand) and indicates the drifting contrast that society is taking.

One the other hand, it is indicating that, we have to time ourselves. Its 4:15pm in the watch (I'm presuming that because of the lighting) and clearly, there is an errand to be made... usually, that would have been time for mid-afternoon tea in older societies and ages, here it indicates how some of the older traditions are "wasting away"... so we must cherish them as best as we could, because they are not a waste of time... they are our identity...

on a curious note, what is the name of the book that you placed? In all honesty, that would give this work even more credence... Its fine the way it is, perfect in its own universe.

Wow you are really amazing. Thank you for looking on my photo like on something that have meaning and some kind of message. It's really sad that old traditions are dying. People forget about history and many beautiful traditions, they go forward so hard and they don't realize that they'll be history in someday too.
Book is written by G. Masterton and its called "The Doorkeepers".
Sorry for my English (I have terrible English teacher in this year )

That's true, and I agree, its sad to watch the old world pass away... nobody's preserving it anymore...

The Doorkeepers... lol, apt title for a concept well executed in this photograph. good choice of work.

And no worries, I understood what you are saying. Cheers :0

What a wonderful picture. It is simple, only two subjects are involved but this is what makes it special.

I really like the violet colors because they make the pocket watch look very old and even more valuable. The color emphasizes its structure.
Maybe other deviants have also tried to read and understand the book, but I don't think a lot of them could understand...^^
The only thing I have to criticize is the title of this picture. After finding such a good fitting quotation I think it is a pity you have not found a better title...
But except for this, it is a very good done work.
