Description
Day 24 submission for Equestria Daily's Newbie Artist Training Grounds. The theme was "Draw a pony with a secret/Draw a pony master thief."Rainbow Dash is TRYING to steal Soarin's heart, at least. She's secretly been in love with him for so long, so that's her secret... guess it's no secret anymore. He just looks worried, I think.
This did not turn out how I'd wanted, but I spent so much time just trying to make a kissy face for Dash... ugh, it's kind of hard! Soarin' is a bit too small, I think... or something... I have no idea, I still suck at stallions.
There are... many problems with this pic. But that's what I get for rushing for the deadline. No Soarin' tail, Dash is missing some of her body, Dash's tail is all weird... I might redo it better one day.

This was done in pen or marker, right? Make an underlayer of pencil of everything you want to ink, so that you can hope not to flub up. Nice idea though. It was better than mine. Better drawn, too.

Actually, the process was:
- Drawn with pencil on paper.
- Tracing paper laid over drawing, traced with .08 Micron pen.
- Colors added with colored pencil. The colored pencil looks surprisingly nice on tracing paper.

That was done on tracing paper? You can never tell when it comes to scanners and such. But keep on, sir. You're getting better as the days go by.

Sheet of white paper on top of the tracing paper makes it scan like plain old paper, pretty much.

Where as with my drawings I just shove my sketchbook in there and hope for the best. Anyway, keep on, son.

This is definitely one I want to come back and redo once NATG is all over. I definitely want to do a background, yes, and maybe even a little story to go with it.
The scene would be at a competition sort of like the Young Fliers competition from Sonic Rainboom. The prizes would be awarded by The Wonderbolts, and Rainbow Dash would win first of course. So she flies over to the podium to accept her prize, and instead of taking the medal, plants one on Soarin' right in front of the whole crowd.
The original idea for this pic also has Spitfire in the scene with a shocked look on her face, eyes bugging out sort of thing. The crowd is just cheering Rainbow Dash on.
That's the vague-ish idea of the whole thing.

Soarin's all like "THIS ISN'T APPLE PIE WHAT THE HAY IS GOING ON HERE? WHAT IS THIS?"
I feel you on the rushed aspects. I'm actually revising mine entries right now, and as soon as I'm at a scanner again the new versions will be put up.

Stallions are hard, especially since their head shapes are much more varied than the mares.
