Previous: [link] Next: [link]I cut some dialogue. I kind of liked it, but... it took up too much space. And too much dialogue in the beginning before people know the characters is stupid anyway. I can put it in later if they come back to this argument. Which they will, because they are Set and Horus and they practically EXIST to argue with one another about everything forever.

I like the way the revised Hotep is going so far. It seems sparser, cleaner, and a little better laid out. I think it would look better with colouring on every page, but I'm completely aware of the time issues involved in doing that, and that colour does not a good story make. You're doing well with the two character introductions, I think.
I know I'm horrible at prompt reviews. I really have no good excuse for that. And I can't promise anything, either.

Ugh... it does need color. I just don't have much time. Main priority is updating each week. If I rush the color it'll suck anyway. I may be able to get some done during the break if I'm lucky. There's something I'd like to try out...

Like I said, I'm aware of the time issues. And the quality problems that come with having time issues. I hope you get time to color a bit of this over the holidays, because I'm sure it's bugging you to have it in black and white.

I think your decision to keep the dialogue down is a good one. It may take longer to get some aspects of the background across, but it's more likely to be absorbed as it comes. My completely untrained suspicion is that if the balloon takes up more room than the character/action, it's too much. Nice work; keep it up.

I tend to agree with you on that one. It doesn't just get wordy, but it wrecks the comic artistically too. I remember finding a webcomic a few months back that had great art, but every panel was smashed full of dialogue. It looked too daunting to read! When you're reading a comic, you expect a comic. Not a novel.

Yes, they do exist to argue with one-another. Why else would they exist? They're like Batman and the Joker. Take out one and the other ceases to be. Without the Joker, Batman becomes just Bruce Wayne or whoever he is. Without Batman, the Joker loses his insanity and becomes just whoever the hell he is.
Same thing here. If one does not exist, then niether does the other. They need eachother.

They need each other. D'awwwwww. There were even some ancient Egyptian scribes who wrote a fanfic where they were gay for each other.
But seriously, yes, they both need to exist. They're in a yin/yang balance sort of a thing. For sure.

They wrote gay fanfics back then? No freak'n way.

And with furries too. They were so far ahead of their time. There's so much we could learn from them.

I keep forgetting to ask this: is the bird dude a Chozo?

A chozo is a bird-like race from the Metroid universe. They had highly-advanced technology, but many chose a more Amish lifestyle (abandoned most technology in favor of a more spiritual lifestyle). They built series protagonist Samus Aran's suit and weaponry and raised her as one of their own after the space pirates slaughtered Samus's parents.
Basically, the Chozo are a race of alien bird-people.

Ah, I see. Well, no, this comic is actually based on ancient Egyptian mythology. The bird man is Horus, the falcon-headed god of the sky and ruler of Egypt.

He clearly looks like a Chozo. You think the ancient Egyptians' plagarism laws are similar enough to ours? Are they going to sue Nintendo for clearly stealing one of their intellectual properties?

They might. But honestly, I've never played a metroid game, so I hope Nintendo doesn't think they can sue me.

They can't. The Ancient Egyptians might be able to sue you, but not Nintendo. And you should play some Metroid games. The Wii can even play five of them (Metroid and Super on VC, Prime 1 and 2 are GCN, so backwards compatability, and Corruption, which is Wii-exclusive). Hell, you can just research the Metroid universe on your own.

Quite furry, it was. There's so much we have to learn from them, most of it furry-related. The ancients were so much more awesome than we are. These truly are dark times. We'll look back at this lack of furriness and cry because it's going to get worse before it gets better.

I don't think they were exactly *into* furries so much as they believed that animals contained some of the essence of the gods. According to my book, the gods all had many, many forms, most of which humans could not comprehend. They would choose animals that represented their nature in the simplest possible way so that humans could look at them without bleeding from the eyes.

XD Lulz. No, more like, they were beyond comprehension, or else insanely bright like stars, or perhaps their forms were in constant flux (like superfast anime that gives people seizures). Something like that.
