The problem is, not all artists want it to seem that they're demanding comments from their viewers. I know I'm one of them. I don't like having the Comment Mallet bashing me over the head every time I favourite something, and I don't want it doing it to my viewers.

...yeah, but everyone knows it's not the artist demanding the comments, it's V7. People just love to complain more than they love change. The layout makes browsing so much easier and it looks wonderful. People spend too much time working on websites that everyone is going to hate just because it's something new.

Okay, sure, they might know that. But it's still annoying to have to see it every freaking time you favourite something. Don't you ever get sick of something you see/hear over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again? See what I did there?
It's not about complaining. I didn't complain when version 6 rolled around. Not as actively as I do about 7.
I admit, I don't like sudden change, because it uproots everything I've been comfortable with. That being said, I also don't think change is an inherently bad thing, as long as it's an improvement. I'll get used to it, big deal.
I personally don't think v.7 has done anything to make this site better. It works at the same speed (at least for me, though I've heard other people saying that it's slowed them down quite a bit), the look isn't really that much different, but the way we have to view deviations is now a joke. Why are people on iPhones and such devices suddenly so much more important than the rights of the artist to be able to show off their art they way they choose? At least, the explaination I was given for the new viewing technique was so it would be more accessable to portable devices. Having to click download, or even just clicking on the image to view the thing the way it was meant to be is a waste of time and, I would imagine though I am not a computer/internet expert, bandwidth when before, it could just have opened right away. Not to mention, a large portion of people probably won't even bother to. Are you happy that a large amount of people probably won't be looking at your art the way you want them to, because they can't be bothered, or don't realise that they have to click on it, or click download, to see it at the size it was meant to be?
And are you really happy with the possiblilty that the comments you post about your art may be largely ignored due to people being too lazy to click 'more'?
So yes, change can be good. However, I don't believe this one was.

But the little "thanks" came up after every time you fave something too. It's practically the same thing. Seeing it over and over again isn't that annoying. Especially since it's just a friendly reminder to leave meaningful feedback to an artist who would want an opinion more than just a lousy fave.
How is it a joke? It's way more convenient having a ribbon at the bottom showing the next few deviations than having to keep going back to see which piece you want to look at.
And how does it change the way an artist wants to show their work? The art is still there. V7 doesn't change the drawing, painting, poem, literature, etc.
I don't care how people look at my art. All that matters is they are looking at it, and they are giving helpful criticism. If having to scroll down is bothersome to some people, then I suggest finger exercises and not being so lazy.

Yes, well, the little 'thanks' button didn't take up a good portion of the screen and slap me in the face. It also wasn't trying to make me do something I didn't. There really is a big difference there. And also, I don't think that having that 'little reminder' is going to change how people comment. I just swear at it everytime I favourite something and then continue to move on without doing so. So not only is it irriating, it's also useless.
I scan my art at a certain size so that it'll show up that size. And I want it to show up at THAT SIZE, not autoresize into a little corner on the middle of the screen where the details are lost. Why should I not be able to do that? There's no reason to take that ablility away.
And really, if you don't mind the fact that this site is now geared more toward people looking at your at your art postage stamp size, then I guess there's no point in talking to you anymore.
