Vera OBVIOUSLY has drinking problems, she deals with a lot of shit (blame Nergal) so this is her way of copingΒ
Piper is WAY MORE MATURE than Vera at times, and hates seeing her like this.
Of course she cares about Vera, since she has feelings for herΒ

Beautiful and intriguing! Poor Vera and Piper, if only Vera would stop drinking and return Piper's feelings, they could be pretty happy! Nergal really is a nasty guy. I love the way this is drawn, and the contrast between Vera and Piper in this artwork. If only Nergal would just disappear in a poof of magic, so Vera could be happy with her daughters and Piper and all of his imps would be free!

I do like this a lot! And Nergal does need to go away! Weird as this may sound, The Nergal/Vera/Piper dynamic almost reminds me of the Joker/Harley/Ivy dynamic from the DC universe for some reason. I know this is weird, but it's what I think. I like them both, so that's a good thing!
