Description
Samuel has frequent nightmares, about his mom, who in the game Among the sleep (spoiler warning) is an alcoholic. Of course, because he's young and still doesn't understand, he still pictures her as the monster from his toddler age, and often finds himself in an endless cycle of abuse in his dreams. These nightmares are so bad, that he often has trouble sleeping for ours on end and is why he doesn't have as much energy as frisk or the other kids. So Toriel, being a good mother that she is, will hold him close and comfort him as best as she can, not understanding his home situation or why he is so traumatized. It breaks her heart to see this, as it reminded her of Chara being in a similar state. She doesn't mind doing this at all, in fact she would spend all night awake to comfort him just to make sure he knows he's loved and is safe.

(Note: non of this is cannon to original games and is only cannon in the Alternate Universe.)
