I woke up and decided I wanted to draw Brave Police. Power Joe is still my favourite. Although I'm still atrocious at drawing proper mecha...Related content

Power Joe! My fave Kung Fu excavator... Well, the only Kung Fu excavator, haha. It looks great! The sketchy lines actually work for him I think, since he's always a moment away from leaping into action!
I think we've covered this fact before, but IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII FUCKING LOVE THIS SHOW. XD
J-Decker has what I wanted more of from Transformers, which is the interactions between the robots! G1 is kind of corny by today's standards, but I think the series endured as well as it did because the Autobots(and some of the Decepticons honestly! XD) seemed like they'd be fun to be around. Β J-Decker succeeded in fully developing its cast and making them all endearing and important to the viewer by the end of its run, and by giving them real challenges to overcome. (and they're all handsome too, which doesn't hurt, haha)

J-Decker is really unique in the fact that it never really decides what genre it wants to be. There's gags and jokes and heartwarming scenes, and within the same breath- characters are getting fatally injured or lamenting putting their loved ones in danger or emotionally finding themselves. It goes from one extreme to the next without ever settling on where it wants to be- which to me makes it really memorable. \
And I agree that J-Decker did a really good job showing depth in all of the cast- dedicating episodes that just focused on a casual day or transitional scenes that showed them doing something irrelevant to the plot but significant to their personality.Β
Yeah what is it about Yuushas that are so nice to look at?Β Β

Oh totally. They battle clowns controlling the gag market, and in the space of ten episodes also prevent an uprising of subterranean people who are brainwashed by a mad scientist- and that's some kinda variety I haven't seen outside of a lot of comedy cartoons. I think the bizarre array of adventures(giant pandas!) lends itself well to the overall aesop, which was that through teamwork the Yuushas could overcome anything.
Nobody in the whole cast was irrelevant- everyone from Yuuta to the bots to the police members, his family, his friends- they all had some important part in the story. I think the real tragedy is that with modern anime formats we don't get 50-episode longrunner mecha shows anymore, and that means series like this will become extremely rare, if not a thing of the 90's era. I think all the Yuusha shows and their variety prove that mecha is far from a one-trick genre, and if done right can be applied to all sorts of stories.
They have really expressive faces compared to most humanoid mecha, even the faceplated dudes like my boy Goldy! XD
Not to mention they're pretty TONED for giant robots, the thighs and biceps on Yuusha designs are pretty intense. lol

Looks amazing to me! I love some braves. Proper mecha is annoying for me to draw. Way too many 3D boxes it makes my head hurt and I am even more terrible at it.

I totally feel you. Things get really technical with all the boxes and straight edges and just the slightest misplacement makes it super noticeable. At least with Mega Man they are more organic in the design sense with a lot of nice rounded edges. Although the cylindrical bulbs on their arms and legs still give me trouble perspective-wise a lot of the timeΒ Β
