I think she has to be one of the most underrated characters I know of. I'm not even sure why I adore her as much as I do (she's either my favorite Bambi character or a VERY close second to the Young Prince himself), but I think it's such a shame that she isn't as fleshed out as some of the others (particularly Thumper, who though I don't hate him, I feel gets overexposed at times).
I'm hoping to have her play a major role in a fanfic I'm currently working on, but as of now I'm just trying to get the hang of writing her just as she is in canon, which is proving much harder than I thought mainly because I have so little canon characterization to go on. I've scoured the film, the midquel, and even the original novel several times, and it's been a while since I was able to eke out any trace or seed of personality I hadn't already.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks Faline gets left out too often, and it's always a pleasure to see nice fanart of her!

She's definitely underrated. If not for Faline playing with Bambi, he would have most likely not run into his father. She was also his first introduction to other young deer, so she had a hand in him getting used to being around other deer. When they're older, Faline brings Bambi happiness after him losing his mother. She may not be an entirely interesting character, but I feel like she's really important to Bambi's story, and I think she deserves more attention.
This is really nice, by the way. I love that you put a realistic touch on her. My mom's one friend actually had a pet deer named Faline. He had her wearing a bandana around her neck most of the time, and funny enough, she HATED his girlfriend at the time. She would attack her. XD

Right I think so! ^^ Theres loads of underrated disney characters I may do a few more who knows, But yes your so right! Without her Bambi would have never become 'the hero' fighting rono and the dogs ect...the same as all the other sidekicks/ friends/ characters that need some drawing. Maybe ill draw a few more of them ;3

I still need to see it, its been over 15 years for me! I looked at a buzzfeed meme and remembered I loved bambi and faline (And ended up doodling her ^-^)
