thank you!! i started sculpting last night for about an hour then baked her, spent this morning drawing on the wood and painting her so... 3-4 hours so far
not gonna lie, i bought the wood

There's no shame! I've been seeing a lot of works on wood lately, it's an interesting choice of canvas... there's an unlimited possibility with the natural grain, and something comfortable about the use of a naturally occurring... I don't know, substance, that really adds to any art you could use wood in.
But I haven't seen a ton of stuff that incorporates three dimensional shapes on wood backing, and I gotta say it's pretty cool. I'm also impressed that this stage only took a few hours, the details are really nice and intricate. I can't wait to see it finished!

well thank you very much. I completely agree with you about wood, i'm actually supposed to start woodworking in september so i should be making my own backings eventually, but for now (( cents at michael's is fine by me!
I LOVE sculpting, so i'm curious as to where this may lead, might've finally found my elusive "style".
I might sculpt a bird for this piece as well, and am contemplating antlers on another one that's in the works
