Description
Brokenspirit prowled through the trees, her pawsteps surprisingly quiet for a feline her size. She was on the hunt, doing her best to avoid the rest of her patrol. Somehow, she had even managed to give her apprentice the slip, telling the young tom to bring something to impress her with. Being around the apprentice made her anxious and irritated, as did most of the younger members of Brine Clan.
They're just a reminder of your penance, she would remind herself, shaking off the dark thoughts that crept from the back of her mind, threatening to engulf her. A warm breeze of Spring air jolted her from her mind. She let out an impatient growl, focusing again on her duties. Right - hunting patrol. Need to find prey...
Yeah, yeah...not a very interesting story, but I couldn't think of anything creative. Brokenspirit wouldn't want to be teaching her apprentice how to hunt anyhow since apprentices only remind her of her first life...where she was so desperate to survive that she succumbed to eating the young members of her clan. :I Yepp. She was once a cannibal. Blah. But moving on, I'm just going to apologize for this picture beforehand...it's not very good. XD It's supposed to be Spring, so the trees are still bear, just barely budding, but somehow it ended up looking like...Winter maybe. It looks cold to me. Oops. Then again, it's supposed to be early in the morning with the mist still rising, so...nahh. No excuses. It looks wrong, eep. One day I'll learn how to properly do backgrounds, but it is not this day... :I Props to whoever actually knows where that reference is from. *cough*
I wanted to add her entire patrol in this, just 'cause that's how I did her assignments back in the original group. So, we've got her apprentice Pebblepaw bringing her a fatty mouse (which I thought turned out adorable...'ya know, for a dead mouse - shame you can't zoom in to see), and in the background, deputy Whiteheart and his apprentice Sweetpaw are chasing down a rabbit. Oh, andddd Brokenspirit's massacred a poor bird of some kind. She's not very delicate with her kills. Savage I tell you. :I Hopefully I didn't butchered everyone else's characters, ahh. I'm not very good at anatomy, I apologize. OTL I think my favorite of the lot though is Sweetpaw. Her design's really cute, and I like the way I posed her...probably because she looks the most 'in motion' compared to the rest. *shrugs*

Aww.. Look at Pebblepaw's adoring eyes! 
Sweetpaw really is a cutie, and I think you're showing the various speeds-of-motion of the cats well. Brokenspirit is standing, Pebblepaw is just arriving, and Whiteheart and Sweetpaw are running. The rabbit is obviously in a hurry too! With three kills it looks like a successful hunting patrol.
Yes it looks cold, but an early spring morning would be! Unless they're in Florida or some such place.

Pebblepaw was really fun to do because of those big green eyes of his. XD He's just trying to make her proud...which she is of course. She just won't ever admit it, sorry kid! I'm hoping they can get close and open up to one another one day, or at least that Pebblepaw can soften her heart somewhat!
Anyways, thank you very much! I was worried the motion wouldn't really come through how I'd like. I personally don't think it shows as nicely and as smoothly as it could, but I tried, so that's all I can really say for it. X3

If you want to subtly emphasize the movement more, maybe you could play with the ground mist a bit. On a small, practice piece you could overlay their feet just a bit (on the farther cats at least) with mist so they're standing in it rather than on it. Also, you could put just a faint swirl in the mist behind them to show it was being disturbed by their running. Probably have to be pretty subtle with this to keep it from looking overdone, but that's what little, practice pieces are for!
Just my little thoughts. I've never tried these myself, but I can't do digital art either.

Ahh, the mist! Usually I do try to cover paws a bit with blades of grass, etc., but I completely forgot about the mist. OTL I just put it behind all the cats without bothering to show it in front of their paws to emphasize it was mist... XD Oopsies. I knew I was missing something! Thanks, Ed! :3
