Wow. Amazing. Sooo much detail on little drawings. I don't know how you do it but I know you are amazing. I hope one day I'll be able to draw half as good as you.

Aww, thank you. Are these considered little? Think this was a 11"x14" or 9"x12" sketchpad.

You are more than welcome. I think compare to all the details you managed to fit in those drawings they are little. The bottom one is about a length of a pencil, or that's how I estimated by the picture. So to me, that's little. Anyway bottom line is that I love your skills.

I love this. The top guy looks like Chris Evans, though.

My gender identity is no longer a secret?! Crap. I had to do a LOT of specific research for this. It was tough, but ... um ... I pulled through. (What's NOT to enjoy about drawing men.) <--Note: Giggly face to further clarify I'm a girl.

I wanted this to be Tyler Hoechlin so badly haha
But all fangirling aside I am completely in love with your skill. The way you colour the skin is just incredible. There are hundreds of artists on this site who can colour skin and get the shadows/highlights right and get all the shapes defined, but the thing that makes you different is the colour choices. It looks like real skin. And not just because of the shading but because the colours are so realistic and unexaggerated. You've captured it perfectly.
I can't stop staring.

Well.... thank you, sincerely. As far as my colour choices being realistic and unexaggerated, hmmm, I dunno. I think what you may mean is they are hyper-exaggerated in that I use colours you DO see, but emphasize their use. Most people wouldn't immediately say we carry blues and purples in our skin tones, but we do, and I usually like to exaggerate those. Most people don't walk around in studio lighting, but I tend to create highlights and shadows as if they did. Somehow this combination gives pieces a different realism.

You should upload this as a larger file. It's wonderful and very realistic looking, and I'm sure many of us would like to see it better up close

I was thinking that when I originally posted this - but I'm so wary now of my pieces being pulled and used elsewhere... Look back later, I think I may post a larger version when I return.

I'm curious, but this may be a stupid question... You did these awesome sketches with just the three pencils which can be seen on the pic ?

Live4ArtInLA In reply to Sucre-de-Lune [2012-07-21 17:06:44 +0000 UTC]
Not a stupid question, I get this all the time. No, no, no, there were about four or five more colours used. I usually photograph my drawings with just the last few pencils used because, well, I'm too lazy to pull them all. Though, if you look through my gallery, there are a number of pieces where I actually say "all colours/pencils used, shown" if you are interested in the process.

i never tried prismacolor on canson. is it really smooth?

Live4ArtInLA In reply to blacknimproud [2012-07-21 04:10:34 +0000 UTC]
Try it! While I prefer Strathmore, Canson Drawing paper does have a nice, smooth surface, a nice weight, and erases cleanly.
