Description these are shrikes.

"The most remarkable characteristic of the shrike is its habit of impaling its victims on thorns, especially on the long and sharp spines of the blackthorn, which grows abundantly in hedges."

...:\

i painted this in an afternoon for my school's "art in the park" celebration thingy. i wish i could scan it and make it look better but its too big and im too lazy to scan it in pieces.

I love little black and brown and white birds. My favorites.

The overall "coolness" (I know, my vocabulary is extravagant lately) of the piece is refreshing, even if perhaps it only seems this way to me in a time when all the art I view is overly bold, bright, hot and chancey.
I love birds for some reason. I think this painting is exquisite.
