(Painter Classic, Photoshop and a screenshot from Felwood fer the background)For anyone who wouldn't know, the one on the left is a Tauren, the one on the right is a Troll, and they're both from World of Warcraft. A game I gave up months ago...but I'm still rather fond of it. Someday...
Anywho, this is sort of a 'what if' picture. What if the Scourge had stretched across the ocean and reached the taurens, orcs and trolls of Kalimdor? I've always rather thought that the undead should just be their own faction and should incorporate all races...it seems iffy that Silvanas would have found much use in the horde....and even less likely that Thrall would have gone out of his way to make such an alliance(heh).
I finally got around to finishing this...I doodled the troll a couple weeks back and thought it'd be nice to finish it up today. I'm still missing an Orc, but whenever I tried to draw one as undead it came out looking rediculous or just...not good in general. So, Tauren + Troll.

Very impressive.
However, the lore reason for Forsaken being human-based only is the they are Undead created by the Lich king's plague who have regained their free-will... and the Plague was specifically designed to attack humans - the most numerous race on Azeroth at the time - in order to create the largest Scourge army in the shortest time. The other races were either too few, too scattered, or both, to make them viable targets for the sorcerous disease.
Animals and plants were affected by the Plague as well, but them only indirectly, thus leaving them disfigured, ever-rotting undead mutants, not true Scourge.

That could still work... Maybe one of the crates of corrupted grain got misshipped to Kalimdor.

Yes, and the humans were thought of as the greatest threat to the legion so they made the plague and distributed it using village grain. Lol this picture is cool though.

They should have these guys in the upcoming expansion packs!!!! I absolutely love the thought of them and hate the idea that only humans became undead, seems a little strange huh???

Late reply, but yeah kinda...In a way it makes sense, as the Forsaken are technically only of a limited number...mindless undead can spawn all the time, but there was a set number of forsaken in the world that awoke from their enslavement. At the time, they had all only been of the alliance in the eastern kingdoms and thus would only be human or gnome or dwarf.....but Blizz chose the easy route and went strictly with humans. I guess if they let in dwarves and gnomes, people would cry out for other races as well. *shrug*
I'd totally play a nasty evil undead tauren.

Yeah, thanks for replying, maybe Blizzard should pop in an undead priest only spell that will turn you into an undead for a while..that'd be awesome!!!

I've wished similarly...that the only way to make an undead character is to actually die and then be brought back to life by an undead priest. Bit too complicated for an MMO, but sounds like great fun anyway. ;D

Painter Classic...came free with my wacom tablet however long ago. I use the ink pen tool for outlines then the watercolor tool because I can 'erase' it over the lines...so it winds up working like layers. Newer versions of painter have layers I hear...but they're also several hundred dollar programs...>.>

It just takes a lot of pokin' around with and practice...it took me a while to get the hang of it. At this point I've been working with it for...erm...hmm...five-six years or somethin'? Something like that.

Hehehe, yeah...photoshop is a good friend as well. I always do all my really cartoony stuff with it. I'd like to learn how to properly paint with it someday...but there's something weird about it and/or my wacom...they don't get along very well. I try and draw a circle and it comes out as an octogon. o.O Painter is much smoother in that sense.

Ohhh, the wierd Photoshop curve. The way to cure that is to draw slowwwwly. It gets some getting used to, I can tell you >.<

Yeah...slowly...*snrk* Tis how I draw all my cartoon lines so smooth and crisp...I draw them with big fast swoops in painter...then take the outline over into photoshop when I'm done. Ah well. Whatever works I suppose.

I just bought photoshop CS recently and have been toying around with it, but I can't make smooth shading like that. Mine usually ends up like crappy cell shading... *sigh*

I've never really worked with PS CS...how is it different from normal photoshop?
Painter classic lets me blend colors together pretty well like you would with normal paints...I always start out with a really light color the work in the dark through layers.
And the Taurens are basically a minotaur-like race from Warcraft....forgot to mention that.

PS CS ist just Photoshop Version 8, and its not that different to PS 7 or 6. To be honest, almost the same. Just another Update to make money for adobe

Well... I can't really say how it's different, because it's the first photoshop I've ever had. However I think it's the exact same as PS7 (more or less) except it's made for educators and students...

Ahh, yeah then...same sort of thing. You can blend colors okay enough if you reduce the strength of the paintbrush.
