Description For my Drawing II class, part of our final critique portfolio includes a drawing theme of a "pattern in nature". There were very few restrictions on the size, medium, etc., so I chose to use my Copics for a larger piece! Our final portfolio has a nature theme to it -- we have gone to a couple of farms and zoo to do drawing studies of horses, chickens, hedgehogs, owls, and more. It has been great for studying anatomy and composition.

Since weasels are my token animal, I decided that I would put some of my weasel dork knowledge for good use in the piece Starting from the bottom and going clockwise, we have a: Bridled Weasel (sub-set of the Long-tailed Weasel), Ermine (AKA Short-tailed Weasel, Stoat), Long-tailed Weasel, and a Least Weasel. The paw prints around the border emulate the weasel's bounding rhythm as they run. For the background, I combined different colors and patterns of weasel fur, mainly the yellow from the Siberian Weasel. All of the components of the piece are arranged in a semi-radial manner, moving outwards from the center.

Dimensions: 13 x 13 inches

Media: Copic markers and multiliners with gel pen

Love love love them so much! It must have been very difficult to combine all 4 of them with each other, but you made a nice composition and amazing fur pattern and details!

Thanks so much! It did take quite a bit of planning and sketching. Had to try really hard to make them all look like they're interacting with each other.

Loving the critters! I love the colors and how well they just seem to fit in this image. Also the prints border is a very nice touch, I like it
