I agree. In my opinion, rats shouldn't be kept in anything smaller than the "All living things Rat pet home". My girls have a Double CN

When I had my rats, Bou and Fou, I usually just let them run around the house. They always went back in their cage whenever they wanted to sleep or eat. And they always came to me when I called them, which was super cute!

oh yes! years ago when I had 5 males I did the same thing with my room, I'd let them run around the room all they wanted and they would always go back to their cage to eat/poop . I couldn't do it now, Rat-proofing would be too difficult, and I have a dog and two cats. lol.

Yeah, it is hard to rat-proof rooms.. They're too smart for the ol' stuff-the-door-crack-with-a-towel thing. I tried to do that a lot, and they'd just pull it out.

ooh, i don't actually. I stopped keeping pet rats last year. I always have to give myself a break after a few years, their life spans are just TOO SHORT. But for now I foster and socialize in short bursts.
I've toyed with the idea of having people's rats have 'guest appearances' in the comics for a donation to Mainely Rat Rescue. Might be something I implement in the future.

Ah, I see. Well thats a cool idea! I especially like the comic's way of adding a little humor without taking away from how serious it is to take good care of our little fuzz-balls.
