Chapter 2!www.deviantart.com/llamallamat…
“Aaaaand we’re live! Welcome to everyone just hopping in-you’re watching AshleyInvestigates, with yours truly!” The girl who happened to be the page’s namesake gave a wry smile into her phone’s camera before directing it over her shoulder to reveal two other girls- a bob-cut brunette standing rather stoically with her arms crossed, clearly not pleased to even be there, and a short raven haired girl crouched over the lock on a service door.
“You all already know my girls. We’ve got Spencer going to work on that lock-doing her thing. Say hi, Spence!”
Spencer smiled softly, nodding to the camera before going back to listening to the pins in the lock.
“And of course, the brains herself, Adrianne Olson, the aggressively single one! Their ‘@‘s are down below!”
“Please don’t put my ‘@‘, Ash.”
“Spencer’s ‘@‘ is down below!” The self appointed host corrected. Moving on, she adopted her ‘exposition’ voice as she liked to call it, the kind prevalent with so many other vloggers of her ilk.
“Talk to me, Adrianne! So what are we doing out here at Hell’s Bells Haunted House? I know it’s a little early for this sort of thing, and I’d imagine most people line up at the front, right?” The camera panned to reveal the backside of what was probably an old Circuit City, now adorned with a medieval castle facade. “I’m not saying we’re breaking and entering, but on the off chance we were, why would we be doing that? Hypothetically speaking, of course!”
Adrianne pulled out her phone, scrolling through what were presumably her notes on this upcoming escapade.
“First of all, it’s never too early. Second, we’re looking at a pretty sketch shipment that came through here exactly 1 week ago today. On September 12th, an armored truck delivered a shipment of over a dozen seven foot tall silo crates to this site. A shipment of LlamTech boxes, to be exact.” The girl looked up from her phone “LlamTech is a multi billion dollar corporation. They don’t make house calls. And even when they do, it’s for nothing short of a Tony Stark-level tech demonstration. Whatever was brought here, to a seasonal haunted house of all places, it doesn’t smell right. That sort of high end security is overkill for a place like this. We could be looking at another black market deal-the kind that puts tools into the hands of people like the Collector..”
“So, obviously,” Ashley cut in “the most logical thing to do would be to break into where said high end security tech was delivered and see just what is going on here at Hell’s Bells!”
“Please repeat that back slowly so you can hear just how batshit insane this idea is for yourself.” Adrianne sighed
“If you two are done kissing, the lock is popped.” Spencer interjected as she stood back up, pocketing her lockpick kit into her denim shorts.
“Woooah, I’m not quite as charming as that Hideki guy-I know Adrianne’s not interes-“
Adrianne smacked the phone out of Ashley’s hands before opening the door to enter.
The blonde picked it back up delicately, breathing a sigh of relief at the lack of a cracked screen before continuing to the camera.
“That was a test, dear viewers. We’re still working on if she’s actually interested in the creepy mad scientist types or not.”
Adrianne poked her head out of the door.
“I’m throwing you in front of the first killer robot we run into. I swear to god.”
Ashley smiled, knowing full well the likelihood of running into another batch of killer robots from Adrianne’s employer was very small-at most, it was probably going to just be another shipment of high end metal detectors.
..................................
“So we’re using killer robots now, eh?”
The goon took a sip of his coffee, admiring his handiwork. Three men stood before a rather shoddy-looking Haunted House scene. The old fashioned “Michael Myers leaping out from behind a clothesline” setup that was in so many places like this at this time of year-only this time, the rig used a little more than a mannequin on a pneumatic cylinder. Beneath the greasy mechanic’s jumpsuit and Shatner mask sat an extremely expensive piece of engineering-the LlamTech Autonomous Security Frame III. More or less a rather agile animatronic frame, what it lacked in defense like the IGII models it made up for in speed and adaptability-like the ability to be semi-inconspicuously disguised in a Haunted House scene.
The second goon, going by the code name of Cushing, rolled his eyes. “Listen, Lee, do you want anyone going where they shouldn’t and getting a hold of the merchandise?”
The man shrugged. “It just feels a little absurd, is all. I mean, usually it’s a Persian Rug business or a Bail Bonds place being the front for this sort of thing. Having to hide out several thousand kilos Colombian Bam-Bam in a Haunted House attraction just seems like we’re asking for trouble.”
The third goon, Price, laughed a hearty, Eastern European laugh.
“We’re trafficking drugs, Tovarish. THAT is asking for trouble.” He gave a cursory scan of the gruesome scene they had created for the attraction. “Besides, boss is festive, I’m told. Am also told that this is hardly the scariest of her...how do you say? Electricities?”
“Eccentricities.” Cushing corrected. “Listen, lets just get these bad boys hooked up to the network. We’ve been asked to field test these things discretely as a favor to one of the boss’ associates. Right now, our primary function is to operate a Haunted House. Nobody will investigate this stuff if it’s hiding in plain sight. We’re the last place the DEA would start looking. And if anybody starts to get a little curious or start looking into things they shouldn’t, one of the terminators here ought to be able to handle it. So right now, let’s focus on being spooky, boys.”
..........................................................
“Oh, good, we’re in the clown section of the place” Spencer said with a frustrated groan. Her phone’s flashlight scanned the room, revealing dormant clown mannequins intended for jump scares adorning a technicolor circus tent backdrop. Doors meant for actors to traverse the attraction and jump out of were all sitting agape, still waiting for the cast and crew that would soon fill this place. “I honestly thought we as a society were over clowns being all that scary.”
“We all float down here, huh?” Adrianne remarked as she gave a scrutinizing look at one of the knife-wielding dummies in waiting. “Nothing out of the ordinary on this guy. No sensors, no suspicious wiring. Knife is made of rubber.”
“-and it looks like we’re stepping into the Big Top part of the place. Usual circus suspects here. Fake clowns, balloons, Adrianne, mirrors, you know.” Ashley brought up the rear, still continuing her commentary as she filmed with her phone. “The joke was that you’re a clown, Adrianne. Get it?”
“I’m surprised you two are as calm as you are, given the whole being kidnapped by clowns ordeals y’all have had.” Spencer said as she watched Adrianne try to ignore their blonde friend.
“It hardly phases me at this point.” Ashley responded, taking in full shots of the room as she headed to the corner Spencer was investigating. “Anything noteworthy?”
“Might be worth a shot going through these tunnels.” Spencer stood up, straightening her leather jacked. “If there’s any kind of storage or back rooms, these’ll have to lead us there.”
“Alright, gang, lets split up!” Ashley announced, only half joking as she saw the daggers she was getting from the two glares looking back at her.
“Or not...”
“Might not be a bad idea to cover more ground, in all seriousness.” Spencer agreed “You two take the tunnels, I’ll keep investigating the main part of the attraction.”
Adrianne looked surprised. “That’s...that’s never a good idea. Splitting up is a ter-“
Spencer lifted her jacket to reveal a Ruger SR9 tucked in to her shorts.
“Damn, southern belle here is packing!” Ashley chimed in as Adrianne pursed her lips.
“I can handle myself. You two stick together-the whole thing is probably nothing to worry about anyway. We’ll meet back up in the parking lot in 30?”
“It’s a plan, I guess.” Adrianne resigned. “Just let us know when and if you see something.”
“Just be sure it’s Adrianne you call-you’ll interrupt the stream if it’s me.” Ashley added.
.............................................................
“Well, well, well-looks like business has started early..”Price announced through his thick accent as he smacked the dust off his gloves. “3 snoops. Caught them letting themselves in through back door while I had smoke.”
“I suppose now is as good a time as ever to test field test these bots for our benefactor, eh?” Cushing said as he leaned back in his chair, reaching for the switchboard and flicking on the main breaker. All three men watched the security camera feeds, chortling as each girl nearly jumped six feet in the air as the whir of the attraction’s machinery came to life. An electric buzz filled the corridors as their new sentries activated, ready to ensnare their prey.
“Man, we couldn’t have gotten a nicer looking batch of guinea pigs either.” Lee smiled, pointing his finger to the blonde feeling her way through the hall with her friend. “That one’s mine. You two can decide amongst yourselves on the other two.”
“Don’t be pig.” Price growled. “This is business. We capture girls, we deal with girls. No hard feelings.”
Price smiled.
“But brunette is lovely to look at.”
.....................................................................
“SHIT. SHIT. SHIT.”
Spencer reeled as the facility surged to life. She didn’t want to think the worst of things, but her gut told her this was more than just an innocent test of the show effects.
People knew they were here.
The scene that had sprung to life around her was your typical haunted asylum affair. Rotting ceramic fixtures adorned the room, and animatronics in straightjackets convulsing violently and cackling were strewn about liberally. As the girl descended deeper, she became increasingly uneasy as the hallway widened, opening itself up in to a sort of common room themed part of the asylum.
Four pillars supported the false ceiling, with windows leading into nothing on the furthest wall (with no doubt enough room for an actor to leap through at a later date).
A shriek pierced Spencer’s ear as she jerked to her right, throwing a punch directly into the general area of where an assailant’s face would be.
The dirge of the soundtrack blasting in the area covered up the exasperated swearing that followed as she realized she had just cleaned the clock of an old fashioned jump scare. Receding back into its starting point, a deranged nurse character with syringe in hand and a mouth full of teeth hissed back into place for the next poor sod that would trip her motion sensor.
“We’re good. All is good.” Spencer sighed, ready to find whatever contraband they were worried about and go home. She continued through the scene, ignoring the rattling and shrieking of the asylum’s “patients”. At this point, she was more interested in getting herself out of this mess.
Something clicked in the girl’s instincts however, as a less than normal shadow picked up in her peripheral vision.
Most of the animatronics here had rather jerky ranges of motion, but a blur that darted through an entryway to her left seemed almost human. What’s more, the blur moved with more intent than the cackling dummies that were more interested in repeating their programmed movements.
Spencer clung to the side of the hallway, her hand on the gun as she edged down. Whatever, whoever the hell was in this place with her was not going to catch her by surprise.
It was then that something caught her by surprise.
She should have noted the apparent lack of strobe lights she had seen since the place went live. The absence was remedied as she turned the corner to another hallway-one that greeted her with a full array of strobes at the far end of the hall.
As every other split second of motion registered to her eyes, Spencer found herself reaching for the wall blindly to guide herself-when much to her dismay a large figure revealed itself at the end of the hall in between the constant blips of darkness.
“No. Nope. Nope. I’m not dealing with this shit right now. Not. Fucking. Today.”
Spencer pulled the gun from her shorts, trying to aim down the hall at the figure standing about 25 feet away.
As her eyes adjusted to the strobes, she could just start to make out whatever the hell this guy was wearing. Long coat. Top hat. Bushy hair.
Was she about to be assaulted by Slash, she thought?
“Welcome to the jungle, asshole.”
Two shots fired down the hall. Always aim for the stomach, her daddy had told her. She was positive she popped this guy right in the center of the bullseye.
Of course, her father had not prepared her for some of the shit she had seen.
Completely unphased, the overcoated figure outstretched its arms, in an almost Christ the Redeemer like pose.
Claws. The damn thing had claws.
The lights continued to attack her eyes as Spencer fired three more shots down the hallway, not even so much as staggering the figure.
The thing began to approach. A manic, jaunty stride hissed toward her as it’s head bobbed up and down violently.
Teeth. Why did it have to have teeth?!
Five more shots into this thing. The gap between them was closing. What’s worse, is it was close enough for Spencer to tell that her shots were actually landing.
Landing, and not doing a damn thing.
Its arms outstretched towards its prey, the girl shrieked as she felt its cold hands wrap around her. A clatter that almost sounded like a dozen steel cables snapping bounced around the hallway as, much to her shock, the thing revealed an array of gun metal tendrils.
“Don’t you fucking to-mmmhpphhhhhhhh!”
One metal claw grabbed her armed wrist, wrenching the gun to the floor. The other clamped itself over her mouth, pointed digits digging into her face. Spencer screamed for help as she came face to face with her attacker in the intermittent light-it’s pale, ravenous face glowered at her, red eyes burning with an intense electric glow.
Electric?
The cowgirls eyes widened. This was one of those LlamTech devices!
With only enough time to register the tell-tale signs of circuitry beneath the mask plastered to this thing, Spencer’s arm was given a sudden pull-forcing her to turn around. With her back turned to her captor, she struggled violently as those damn tendrils whipped around her. Ensnared as she was, squealing furiously was all she could do. Another tendril whirled around her, utilizing another variation of the rope dispensing tools she and her friends had become so familiar with from other LlamTech encounters.
“LLLHHH GHHHHEHHHH MHHHH!”
The pistons in the machine continued to hiss as the rope coiled around her torso. These bots usually had very concise objectives-capture, secure, contain.
As rope began to work its way around her knees, Spencer decided (albeit very frustratedly) that these machines were very good at that.
She squealed as she felt the thing’s free hand grip her arm tightly. With very little effort, the girl felt herself being dragged backward into the hallway as her boots dragged on the concrete.
“Ammdddddmmmm!! ASSHHHMMMMMM!” The robot’s prey cried for help uselessly. This was not how the night was supposed to go.
The fog thickened as the writhing cowgirl disappeared into it.

That was really, really good my friend.
Very suspenseful in such a short amount of time.
It definitely goes with the fallish, Halloweenish vibe I've been getting as of late.
The dialogue was excellent, not stilted at all.
Man, I think Spencer just hit the top on my faves out of your OCs.
Kickass cowgirl, ya!
She could probably lasso up Becky in a heartbeat. XD
