One of my favorites of yours. The crop and composition are freaking great! Love the muted tones and softness of an otherwise very hard-edged subject (the building).

This is gorgeous. It reminds me of a book I've read (about 3 times now ) called "Northern Lights" by Philip Pullman.

This is so wonderfully impromptu...and she seems so thoughtful and pensive. I especially like how she's in the foreground, and the building is out of focus in the back. for sure!

i like how it's cut. i love it when people cut off heads and body parts. everyone used to yell at me for that. i cant help it. i think its nice cutting things out of the picture.

Hehe yeah I really like faceless photos. It lets us use our minds more in trying to figure out what the person looks like and is feeling in their face.

I like the nostalgic feel.
And with the out-of-focus background taking over the shot and the girl's face missing, it;s a very fill-in-the-blank picture. I really like it.

your gallery is very touchingly retrospective. this piece is a prime example. the colors and crop go well towards creating a very sensitive piece. it might be an oldie, but it's a goodie

I like the idea but i think the building is way to dominating and I read the comment and i've never heard/seen a guy use the word 'creamy' yay for that... I think this kind of cropping is fascinating because it leaves the viewer in wonder.. we think of facial expressions ect for all i know she could have been making funny/ugly faces i love when a photo is mysteripus. Oh and I have now put a polaroid camera on my wishlist so lets see how it goes..

I like the building in the background, it contrasts well with her pale dress. And the composition is maybe perfect I wish her figure was clearer though. But it's still a very nice photo. I don't want to say this- because I hate criticising people's art, but as soon as you look at this you think 'the colours have been manipulated' I don't know if it's a bad thing though. Don't get me wrong because it's a gorgeous, gorgeous image

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

lloydhughes In reply to Seeyousoon [2005-12-13 11:40:31 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the critic
To be honest I didn't manipulate it 'that much' hehe. The original had the same muted colours even though it was cross-processed which you'd expect vibrant contrasted colours but I find If I shoot into the sun I get the opposite, which the above was. The only thing I added was a creamy layer, in the original the sky was white and the image was just a lot whiter i guess but now its creamier. Plus I cropped the bottom off.
Thanks once again and I'm glad you liked it
