hehe, I use to use the burn tool a lot. but I like my skin to stand out, and I find using a prupley colour does jsut that! XD

'Add a new layer and make it on Multiply' or something like that >> Because thats what it looked like you did.

it's not though, all together, that's only 3 layers. White background, skin, and lines.
