Date: 10th November 1962

NWR No.4 ‘Gordon’ charges through Wellsworth with a Troop Train, charging the gradient ahead. The prototype Doncaster A1 was quickly assigned to troop and express goods trains to and from Sodor.

Note the limited amount of scars when compared with NWR No.5, despite being at Tidmouth Locomotive Depot, mainly being in the oldest part built in 1903 by the Knapford Railway, and the custom made headboard.

Today is on static display at the National Railway Museum alongside LNER A3 ‘Flying Scotsman’ & A4 ‘Mallard’.
