I ADORE the back to the Futures! Marty McFly has been a hero of mine since I was little.

I’ve said many times I want to be Marty McFly for the first half of my life, and then turn into Indiana Jones for the second half (Neither of which occurred...).

And the Delorean – I’m not really a ‘car’ guy... but that car has style! – Regardless of what the stainless steel construction does for the Flux dispersal!

Can’t believe I’ve finally arrived in the future!

So my plan was to post up my picture of the Delorean at 16:29 (pacific time) on the 21st of October (That’d be 00:29 22nd Local time for me).... but, I ran outta time - If only I had a time machine!

I do, however, have a delete button that would at least allow me to go back in text and change that sentence so that I didn’t say ‘time’ so much, but I don’t even have time for that. Great Scott!

It’s not like I’ve been a slacker, I tried to set aside all distractions - put Tifa (my Dog) into a suspended animation kennel, resisted watching Jaws 19... but it wasn’t quite enough. Heavy.

In truth, I’m very much in two minds as to whether or not to post when it’s incomplete... guess my bionic implant is short circuiting again – but in the end, I couldn’t resist the temptation of my Delorean arriving at 00:29 21-10-15... whatever state she’s in.

So, I’ll pull my socks up, activate my auto laces and keep working. After all, ‘If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything’.

Once it’s completed I’ll post it back in the future.

For now, I’m gonna give myself a little breather and get a Pepsi... anybody got a Fifty?

PROCESS (SO FAR...)

I wanted to do this like I do some of my characters and have the different elements of the time machine on different layers so I could ‘change the outfit’ of the Delorean by selecting different layers.

So to that end; I started by drawing the - for want of a better word - 'standard' Delorean.

Good ‘ol pen, pencil and paper (dust repellent of course).

I sketched out the plan Delorean, and fine lined it. Then I scanned it at 600DPI as a ‘text’ scan to make it purely black and white.

Then I started the colouring and shading in Photoshop CS5.

Once I was happy with the basic Delorean, I went back to the drawing board (actually, I just use a fold away table) and, with my original artwork on the sheet of paper below to guide placement, started drawing the additional elements.

Incredible as it may seem, I actually struggled to get reference material. I tried to use the films, but the screen cap’s weren’t up to much and the reference I found online was a little... inconsistent.

Today, (21st) I went through the trilogy back to back (to back – there are 3 after all) as I worked. It really is an amazing trilogy!

Next, I’ll draw the wheels in hover mode... I could sure do with Goldie Wilson the third’s help for that bit!

By the way, If you’re not a complete nerd like me – well first of all; CONGRATULATIONS!... secondly, a lot of this post will seem like utter gobbledy-gook. Apologies ^__^
