Description
Here are my personifications of the counties of Ulster! Which one are you from/ do you like the most? From top to bottom, left to right
Cavan:
County Cavan is one of the three counties of Ulster that is in the Republic of Ireland, rather than Northern Ireland.
It's known as "Lake Country" due to it having the most lakes (365!) and rivers running through it in Ireland! So as a result my Cavan is permanently wearing wellies.
Not a lot of tourists typically come here but he really wants some tourists! He's converted an awful lot of old Norman castles into hotels and the locals are very friendly!
Donegal
The second of three Counties that is in the Republic of Ireland.
County Donegal is rather isolated, being so far north (with some of its points being further North than Northern Ireland!) and is quite rugged as it is very mountainous. Donegal is described as marches to the beat of its own bodhrán (Irish drum).
My Donegal is a bit of a loner and the rest of the Republic of Ireland (and most of Northern Ireland) find him a bit odd as a result. But he is very protective of Monaghan and friendly enough with Leitrim (being Donegal's only connection to the South). But the one he get on best with is Londonderry due to the large border they share and the amount of trading they do.
Monaghan:
Final county of Ulster that is part of the Republic of Ireland.
County Monaghan is considered to be the most poetic county of Ireland as well as one of the most rural.
As a result my Monaghan is a bit of a dreamer who likes to walk around barefoot while writing poetry and music. She's very sweet but can be a bit forgetful.
Antrim:
County Antrim is the most populous county in Northern Ireland, so out of the Ulster counties my Antrim is the tallest. An awful lot of the tourist attractions are located within Antrim so she's very knowledgeable about her county (which is why she's dressed as a tour guide) and very cheerful.
Her favourite things to talk about are the Titanic (and will be very quick to point out that it was built by Irishmen but sunk by an Englishman!) and C.S Lewis. She's also very proud of her Glens.
Down:
Like the majority of Ireland County Down has beautiful scenery, particularly its mountains and coastal areas. Also boasts of being the last earthly home of Ireland's patron saint, St. Patrick, in the town of Downpatrick.
It is known as G.A.A county and my Down is very athletic because he literally will play any G.A.A sport from hurling to Gaelic football (but not camogie because it's for girls!).
(London)Derry:
The Northern Irish will jokingly tell you that you can tell which side of the community you're from (Protestant or Catholic) depending on whether you call this county Londonderry or just Derry. But honestly despite internal problems nearly every refers to it as Derry because we may hate our own neighbours but we all "hate" the English more! (Londonderry used to be just "Derry" until the Ulster Plantation).
Londonderry proudly boasts that it has the only surviving completely walled city in Ireland. It is also the proud owner a a very long (and chilly!) coastline. So if you don't mind Irish weather, a trip to the beach should be worthwhile in Derry. It is home to a large catholic majority so my Londonderry is a happy shorts-wearing beach-goer and catholic.
Armagh:
Referred to as "bandit county" because during the Troubles this is were the IRA and Irish rebels fled due to the border with the Republic of Ireland. County Armagh is home to some of the important religious sites in Ireland and is famous for it's stunning Planetarium.
My Armagh comes across as fierce and a bit of a bully but he really does want friends! He can be a bit nerdy too, very into Physics and Astronomy.
Fermanagh:
Ah, farmer county. County Fermanagh is very rural and big on agriculture, nearly completely focusing on livestock such as sheep/cattle/pigs.
My Fermanagh is a very easy-going farmer whose best friend is his pig!
Tyrone:
County Tyrone has beautiful scenery and lots of trails for hillwalkers! Also a lover of Gaelic football, and is good at it too!
A popular destination in Tyrone is the Ulster-American Folk Museum, putting the close relations of Ireland and America on display.
My Tyrone is an intrepid hillwalker and good Gaelic footballer as well as a bit of a history buff that gets on well with America!
Hope you enjoy, please , COMMENT, !
