Description
Name: Locket the RocketSpecies: Cyborg Muscle Clam
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Type: Flight
Likes: Flying, moving fast, riding waves
Dislikes: Pollution, dry air
Orientation: Heterosexual
Relationship Status: Single
Abilities: She is capable of crossing land sea and sky with her all terrain armored shell. She can attached things such as drills, guns, and force projectors to her shell, though she can't have all at the same time. When on land she must put water in her goggles for keep her eyes moist and rub water on her skin every hour. She sometimes closes salt water into her shell before going on long flights, like a personal aquarium. Like Dr. Eggman powers his robots with animals, Locket uses her own energy to power her mechanical parts. She's a good mechanic now too.
Personality: Locket is a dare devil go getter who loves excitement and danger. She can never sit still and constantly wants to move around. She has a natural curiosity and can be a bit blind to everything else when something new and shiny is presented to her. She rarely gets mad but actually likes to argue about things with people who can actually understand her. She has a few social problems though since clam culture is very different from anyone else. She lacks a nose so she doesn't know what smell is like. She also can not speech, and uses sign language to communicate. She also lacks ears, but can feel sound vibrations in the water and can understand speech there. However, on land she can not hear a thing. She's always looking to discover new things and ways to upgrade, and she dreams of one day being able to make herself capable of space travel.
Bio: Locket always longed for adventure; While most clams where content in the comfort of their little world, shutting themselves away from reality, Locket wanted more. She would hear stories from passing fish about the exiting things that beyond the boundaries of what she could see from her shell, Negare, a flying fish who passed by often, always had her favorites, and she longed to travel as she did. Finally, she had gotten what she was looking for. A huge, fish shaped airship had crashed near by she could even see the wreckage from her shell, but she was still unable to reach it or explore it. She would convince passing fish to grab her a part here and there as they passed. She at one point got a manual for converting living creatures into energy, and for robotisazation. She began to ask for the parts shown in the manual. Finally she gathered all she needed, she worked for a long time, constructing a small machene. She tried her best to build it herself, but she had limited reach. She got help from other fish, but it still was hard to do. It took some time, but finally she was ready to go. She hade made the parts she wanted connected, now all she needed was a robotisizor. Tristan, a Narwhal, was king enough and strong enough to carry her and her and her new parts into the wreck, after a long search they found a working robotisozor. She was placed inside along with the parts. It was turned on, and the parts grafted to her. When the door opened she was a cyborg, with turbines and handles for driving them, and a small window in her shell for her to look out of when it was closed. Her turbines span and she was off, leaving the rest of the clams behind. She's added to it since then, and lives her dream of being the worlds only travailing clam! She's always looking for new ways to enhance herself and allow her to go further.

She is such an original creative sonic character. I tried making deisgns for aquatic Mobians (or actually make redesigns for existing obscure characters from the sonic comics) but this beats all. Sh looks so fun.

Thank you so much! she's gone through a couple redesigns over the years to get her this way.

Freaking awesome. The new colors look really good on her. It's about time for Locket and Brine to go on another adventure together! (And look for a new team member for that matter orz).

Thanks! I tried to stream line her a bit more, and she looks more like a beetnick which works.
I can see a epic story about this now! Brine and Locket go looking for a new team mate after the disappearance of benthos. And then silliness ensues.

Haha I can see it too. I may do a short comic strip about it. Maybe we can organize a new contest for it or something.

Oh, wow! I've never seen a character like that before! A very unusual species to pick, but you made her absolutely adorable and unique!
Very creative. I love it!

Thank you! I try to always pick unusual species, it's more fun to design!

I salute you, dude. A lot of the Sonic fandom is the same thing [all hedgehogs, foxes, wolves, etc..], just boring, or recolors.
[I'm guilty of falling into same and boring]
But you're always so creative and asdfghjkl; I love it. Something new is something completely fun.
If I tried to pick unusual species, I'd fail so horribly with the designs or I wouldn't even know how to design them in the first place. XD

Wow well thank you!
And it just takes a lot of trial and error before you find a design you like for a more unusual animal. The main thing is just keeping the key elements that make it obvious what it is, and making the rest sonicish. A lot of my old character were more generic animals, but I changed them later on to be something new and original.

Hmm...a clam. Definately a hard challenge to make into a Sonic-fied character.

It took a bit of time thinking up what to do. This is her second design. But I had the initial idea of what i wanted from the start. I find working with such odd animals is easier for me, as I don't have to work as hard to try to make them stand out.

It's still Locket the Rocket, I just had to change the title of this art work it it gets all mixed up and stuff.
I first thought her up when working on a character to get on a team with
he needed a flyer, and even though I already had my flying fish i wanted to do something new. The idea of having a character with cyborg parts that let them fly first came to my brain, then when trying to find a good sea animal I spotted a clam in the background of something and went "I've never seen a clam character before" and well, here she is.

So you switched eyes for mouths ok. although I always thought the most important thing needed for displaying emotions is eyebrows rather then mouths
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
LoaTheRat In reply to Ninjahedgehog6 [2011-12-28 18:15:59 +0000 UTC]
Ether one can do a good job. Some emotions display better with the eyes like anger, but other better with the mouth such as happy. I found she is more often happy then angry and stuff, so a mouth was more important. I also did it to be more corect for a clam, as they have a mouth but not eyes in real life.

Ya she's a cyborg. she had the jets put on first so she could swim, but added the wheels later so she could go on land. She also has deplorably glider wings for flight.

Initially I thought she was flipping me off. But oh man, I still love her design. The colors on this are superb~
I can't critique, but I could leave a critiquey comment... Except I hate critiquing people, so probably not. xD;;;

Oh ya, nope just pointing! Like "Eh!"
Thanks though, she was so fun to draw!
And you don't need to, though it would be nice. I mean I've already got a few flaws I've picked out such as the couple places I went outside the lines but ya, any other comments would be nice!
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
AisforInterval In reply to LoaTheRat [2011-12-30 22:36:28 +0000 UTC]
I generally don't count going outside the lines as anything really critiqueable, cuz people do it all the time. When I do it, I just fix it in photoshop with the cloning stamp tool... If I care enough. xD
The only thing I can really name is the jets on the side don't look round enough, but even then, drawing machines is a pain in the ass, so that's totally understandable.

Same thing with me and drawing anything that requires diligent symmetry like that. :/
Maybe I should look into getting a drafting table, maybe that would help somehow...
