Description
Shuttlecocks by Claes OldenburgOver the Fourth o' July weekend my family went to Kansas City to visit my grandmother. Among other things done during the trip was a visit to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. This is one of the many pictures I took there. I really like the perspective on this picture because it makes the shuttlecock look like the world is leaning away while the shuttlecock is perfectly fine.
Please leave a comment and I'll be quite happy.

I go to the Nelson-Atkins Museum at least once a year. It's cool.

I know. I love being there. The last time I went I got there right as it opened. It was so neat to wander around with no one around.

I don't live near Kansas City so I've only been there a couple of times. The novelty hasn't worn off yet.

Isn't that weird how that works? How you can like something, but hate it after awhile?

It ceases to be novel after a while. That's the only thing I can think of.

I always thought they were called the "birdie", not a shuttlecock.

I think both are acceptable but the official term is shuttlecock.

driving, as in in badminton. it's a way of hitting the birdie.

How big was the Shuttlecock?
Also it looks like a giant birdie
Either way it's nice :3

Since I'm as tiny as a pencil that must be REALLY big! I may be tiny but I'm still a tough T-Rex!

Really cool composition! I love how the lines in the grass offer lines of perspective. It's overall very crisp and stately!

I remember when my art class went to this museum. I remember leaning on one of theese for a quick picture then one of the trees near by told me "Don't lean on the art please!"
I figured out a speaker was attached to the back of the tree later...but it as kinda funny at that moment in time.

That's a really good shot. I like the angle you put on it, makes it look like it's hitting a green wall.

Isn't it strange when something like that happens? You run across something new and then everybody seems obsessed with it.

Kinda... I feel sorta sheltered/special when I don't see things like that when they're apparently around more than once.
