Description Most of you will say "WELL DURRRR!" but this might maybe possibly help some of the new stock models? Maybe? God knows my pics aren't perfect, but this is a pretty decent outline of the basics.

it's about time someone put out a stock tutorial! this is wonderful and I hope a lot of stock artists start using this to increase the quality of their stock. great job and that last picture was amazing the difference in your skin tone that a background makes.

Whoa, I never knew how much the backround color could effect a photo. Not that I'll be taking any stock pictures any time soon, it was still interesting.

Cool

I wish I actually had room to photograph well I usually take my ref photos in the hallway because it's the only place I can get far enough away from the camera and have nothing in the way.

Very nicely down..most beginners don't realize the differance the background can make in the over allcolor and tone of a photo....

I tend not to use the plain white, or other sheets background. I think that is because my stock is verging on art photography though, I make sure there is no really distracting things in the background (like the posters or half pulled curtains, parked cars, etc.) But like you said, that is just my way of doing things. I'm also lucky enough to have a model (the pics I take of myself suck)

i haven't seen your stock shots, but if you're shooting live models, all the background is just junk that a manipulator has to cut away. a plain white background makes things much easier.

yes that is true, but my stock is just a little different, very close to art photography, go have a look and see for yourself, you will understand what I mean.

Excellent! But you left out the part where angsty teenagers with a gallery of 400 emo face shots does not make a stock photographer. This isn't you obviously, but you know what I mean.

Keep up the good work Lady.
