the blurriness adds a good touch to it. nice. the way he's looking away and the blurriness makes it look like he's the nervous one.. i guess.

"alcohol can be source of your problems as well as the solution"

sorry, im in an advice/debating mood, 'cause someone commented on my work asking what i defined anarchy as, and i do believe she thinks she knows everything there is to know about it.

i have never really had a camera to love. i have a really crappy Logitech ClickSmart 510 that i got for my birthday a few years ago, and i cant afford a half-decent one anytime soon. money's pretty tight.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you hoping you'll return with loads of interesting pictures from your little trip. You know, they're all people after all... I don't know why we get so scared around them
And you know, I've always wanted to visit Germany... somehow I got the idea that it's a country where freedom of expression is very powerful there (probably from all the random shows I watch on ProSieben - even though I don't understand a word anyone's saying since I don't speak German, but anyway - and I'm always seeing punks and people wearing spikes and green hair on tv and things like that which would never happen in Romania, where I live). But I don't have a job since I'm in University at the moment and, of course, my parents would never give me money to go on holiday abroad, so I guess my dreams will just have to wait 'till I'm on my own.
But thank you so much for telling me about the festival and everything, it really made my day thinking how someone I don't even know even bothered to look up something like that for me and tell me about it.
And I know it's a bit weird, but I've actually never liked gothic music... it's a bit too... calm... for my taste... I'm into metal, but I'm totally in love with gothic people and goth as a lifestyle... yes, yes, I know I'm crazy

hey you! (whats your name btw?)
I am back from my trip with lots of wonderful memories and pictures as good as the camera gets (doesnt get too good unfortunately but I am saving up for a Canon 20D). guess what? I really layed down my shyness and took pics of people! especially children....cuz I feel stronger than them in case they dont like me takin pics I could still defeat myself but they did like it to be photographed....
I have not been to romania yet....its too close I think. I wanna travel to the far away exotic countries first. my aunt was living in Romania for a couple of years, she worked as an english teacher if i remember correctly.
freedom of speech and expression is indeed very powerful here....well, I am used to it so I dont know how it is in Romania, is there a big difference? no punks in romania?? wow, weird. here its full of punks and gothics and whatever else....there is a huge variety of types of people which I like very much since in other european countries everyone looks the same.....for example in sweden.
as for the music, I am also not into goth music but I am also not into heavy metal......its rock for me, just plain rock...especially with nice melodies.....like Dire Straits......and guitars, guitars are a MUST. since I also play that instrument.
hope you are alright!
be good!

Hello! (My name is Anca, by the way)
I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your trip so much and that you had fun taking pictures (and actually built the courage to do it! ). Hopefully you'll upload at least some of them soon so that everyone can compliment you on them. Hehe... Even though most of your subjects were children, it's still a great thing! You're suppose to start from somewhere, right? I can just see it now... some kid complaining about you taking his/her picture and you threatening to steal their loly pop if they decide to tell about it to their parents. I'm just kidding... Even though I'm not a big fan of children myself (nature must have played the biggest trick on me when it decided that I should be born female seeing how I have no desire whatsoever to have kids around me), I do admit that I regret not having the guts to photograph a couple of them last summer while I was at the seaside. First, a little boy who came in with his mother in a candy shop and his mother told him to wait for her at the table while she ordered. He was so eager to get his piece of cake that he started biting on the table top (he was about 3 years old perhaps, so his forehead barely came over the table as he was standing). Then, the second shot I missed was when a man grabbed his son by the waist and pulled him up into the air so he could reach and drink from the sprinkler in the centre of town. It was a little blonde kid and the powerful sun rays were coming from his side, through his hair, making it look like gold. Yeah, I really feel sorry for not having the guts to take my camera out right then and there and get all those lovely shots. Oh well, maybe I'll follow your example next time and have the right amount of courage to follow my brain!
Freedom of speech and expression are phrases that mostly exist in a theoretical form over here. I think our communism years have left a deep scar in our society, so it is very hard for new things not to easily be rejected. Young people try to make the old ones change our ancient perspective on things and make them realize that all of us are now free to do what we want, but things aren't really going too well.
No punks in Romania? I don't think I said that, did I? No, I'm sure there are a couple of punks over here as well (I'm talking about the real ones, not the silly confused kids who want to act rebellious so they decide that wearing a t-shirt with the name of a band that they don't even know and hanging a chain to their pants is going to make them look 'cool'). And as far as the goth scene goes, things are pretty much the same as with the so-called punk crowd. So there are punks and goths, but very very few of them. And most of them are just confused teens who are going to grow out of it. These trends are fairly new here so there's no "old-school-ers" that kids can learn from. Back in the days, communism was strict as hell, so the most rebellious thing that we had were some folk groups and a couple of classic-rock bands.
Anyway, enough talking about what Romania lacks, I'd rather hear (and see!) more about your trip.
Take care!
Anca

it does feel nervous to take people pics. so far i havent got scolded or whatever, i'm surprised how happy those people in my photos when i asked them if i could take their pics...mostly they smiled, and sometimes asked if i was a photo journalist, heh. i dont know with indo people, but they feel happy when someone take their pics lol. one thing i love from taking people pics is the honest smile when they say yes and allow me, and after they smile again, i just love it. it feels so deep, you know. i just feel something is so natural.
the pic is blurry, but i still can see his boots... haha i love those boots, wish you could have taken his pic closer, but yeah it would be too scary, plus when taking people pic we also have to be careful not making them mad or the magic line, like you said "you talkin to me ?!" would come out lol.
this is a long comment, any longer lines, i would be like writing a diary instead a deviation comment

lol. hehe. dunno, he seemed to be a bit drunk or something....nervous...thats why. and I always try to do spyshots. and then...in germany people are not like people in the US. we are more quite, more closed. in the US no matter where you are people wanna talk to you. at least to me. lol.

it was so cool, I enjoy when people dont notice that im just a stupid german tourist. in San Francisco there was a cool skater boy coming to me and asking me for the way to whateverstreet......it was so nice to see his face when I told him, i have no clue im just a tourist.

Well, way to use your head, by not letting him know you took his picture. He might have been angry. Yes, I suppose that Americans are quite the camera pleasers. I'm one of the sorts who will talk to anyone... though I may shy away from having my picture taken.

So neat... you must fit in here in the states... that's great!! Most tourists are very obvious.
