A few more paces and she whirls about, The Dinnos have stopped casing her. They circle at the edge of this sandy clearing.
She realizes too late, They've herded her into a pool of quicksand. If she stays put, she sinks. If she tries to escape, she won't be able to fight them off...
The quicksand seems to make her decision for her, as her knees slip below the surface. Trying to free herself only makes the situation worse.

As her hips settle in to the quicksand, the situation may appear hopeless.
The pressurized water forced upward by the natural spring under the clearing, keeps the sand shifting around her.
Even staying still won't stop her descent. Trying to shift her hips or lift her legs only forces the sand to pack above the movement.
As trying to free herself is akin to lifting yet another wet sandbag over her head: she knows that the real danger isn't sinking down below the surface, drowning in silt.
No. the real danger is panic: frightened thrashing making it harder to escape she would exhaust herself as she digs her own grave.
She has an Idea...
"Hey guys. aren't you hungry?", Her angry look is a challenge, "If I sink, you don't get any"...
She extends her arm towards a root of a fallen tree trunk.
only to have a dino leap onto the trunk, the beast lunges and snaps at her extended arm.
That was easy she thinks.
She feints with arm again.
The dino lunges far enough to be off balance.
"Now!" she thinks. She side steps the jaws, wraps her arms about the head and forces the head down under the sand.
Quickly she tries to clamber up, on top of the beast.
Another dino makes the same mistake as the first. Hunger driving the lizard to lunge forward heedless of the danger.
the second dino takes the her place in the quicksand.
"two down" She thinks to herself, "these aren't postocompies. a small opportunist predator. Yes, they hunt in packs. Yes, their bites may have a paralytic venom (she wasn't willing to test that) - but otherwise these lizards were too big. These lizards are more like a pack of dumb dogs. Their only danger lay in their numbers. Thus, With only one dino left to deal with, she could intimidate the small beast. Instinct warns the lone animal that even if it manages to get this kill - if it is wounded, it won't be able to hunt or flee other threats. the only question now is if it is hungry enough to ignore those warning instincts.

See, this is what happens when you try to harness the 3rd Energy as a power source instead of a weapon. :F You get zapped back in time and now you've gotta put up with dinosaurs invading Edward City and chasing out all the humans who weren't lucky enough to own guns. Not like the military is gonna help. They're stuck behind a wall of poisonous plants and with a Giganatosaurus and Tyrannosaurs Rex on the prowl, they sure ain't getting to the citizens in time to save you.
Poor girl. I do hope the raptors give her a sporting chance at least.
Beautifully done, artist. I am impressed and very much liking this piece. The back lighting has it appearing as though she just took cover in the woods from a clearing...though if we've seen enough Jurassic Park, the trees aren't going to save you either. All of the little details come into a glorious final image that looks as though it should be coming out of a Marvel or DC comic. Everything from the little splash of her foot in the puddle to vines draped ever just so in the background...you've created a stunning visual piece here and I am definitely a fan of it. If I had to nit-pick one thing though, it'd be this:
If she's got 3 Deinonychus chasing her through the woods, how the hell has she lived this long? O_o
