My grandfather fought in the Korean War as a lieutenant.
I had so many questions to ask him about the war... Sadly, he passed away when I was just 13.
Veterans are perhaps the toughest people in the world.

He was a Colonel. It is a military title rated as the highest, or the second-highest, field rank below the general. The details of where he fought are unknown to me and irrelevant for deviant art.

I find it difficult to take portraits of my family members for some reason. This however is inspiring, great use of light and b&w, quite moving

This photo is absolutely amazing. For once, I love photos of grandparents and older people. They have such a story to tell just in their facial expressions. The quote to this really fits well. And to be 86 years old, he surely doesn't look it. He does look to be reminiscing. Words can't express just how much I love this photo.

This is a truly beautiful portrait of your grandfather. Unfortunately, I never got the chance to ask my grandparents about what life was like for them here during the war, but what you've captured on his face tells his story better than words probably could. To be able to do that with a photograph is incredible and precious, I hope you treasure this one for a long time. Well done.

Great photo! I love the lighting and the use of a globe as a prop here. Terrific portrait. I applaud his service to his country.

Kick ass photo. Really powerful, alot of meaning to it.
Only thing I'd recommend is it's a bit large, maybe scaling down the size on dA a bit would improve it :]
