To all those who thought I would never render again, HAH. It's as simple as the same thing over and over gets boring.I don't know what to say about this aside from the fact that it's PROBABLY the last piece I'll finish in Philadelphia. =bluealaris and I will be moving to New York City at the start of the New Year.
I feel like I'm leaving a lot behind, so I guess the nostalgia of this old character helps me out. (Does this need mature? You can't see anything....)

Hahaha! I like the pacific islander caterpillar comparison! I'm hawaiian myself, so I'm sure it seeps into my art all the time. And yes, when I think of Opium lounging and smoking I think of the caterpillar. That's his hero.

I've never really known a lot about Opium, but I've always liked him. He seems to have this lush, sensual feel to me; perhaps that's the way you draw him, I don't know.

haha!! I know the swirl texture you used for his tattoos! I definitely used that exact pattern in one of my bookarts projects back at uarts, I love that texture.

Oh, I didn't use any textures, I hand drew it all and just used patterns from a book. O_O;;;;

Yep! Henna, I used to be obsessed with it when I was in high school, and it's still a guilty pleasure of mine. Rendering drives me nuts, but drawing little patterns forever is so fun. *_*;;;;;

i know. have you tried using the paste straight from the cone? it's bloody difficult to control (my lines always go all squiggly and stuff), but it's really fun. i prefer the brown/red henna to the black one because they're usually all natural (no black shoe polish or weird crap.) you designs are really stunning. i'm going to get it done all over my hands and feet when i get married, just like an indian bride.

Ohh the patterns are so pretty! I love how they are not just a plain mass of pattern, but really go along with the skin. Guy himself is a bit scary holding that smoke in with that smirk on his lips. Argh my english is so poor I cannot express myself too well but lets just say this is lovely. <3

I'm curious about Opium, since he seems a very darling character to you judging by your comments next to his pictures. So is he a human? If so, how old and from which country? And where's that snake? 8D

He IS a human, but he's one of the whisperers, like Viktor, he can hear the voices of the deities, one respectively for each country. He's from the Brackenstone country, the one beneath Hydra's, where people generally have dark skin. Actually, I'll finish the rest in a note because I'm shy of others seeing it. XD

It's rare I paint chubby people, for even if I am a fluffy gal, I guess society has warped my aesthetics too much. But dayum, rolls are fun to paint. O_o;
