Description
Based on the most prevalent dream I had after seeing that terrible The Last Airbender movie. Aang tries teaching Ahng how to smile. I realized mid-color that I completely forgot how to draw Aang's outfit. That's okay, it's just a dumb comic with no shading. Oh, also a zing on the movie's lack of humor, let alone flattening out the character's personalities.ATLA (c) Mike and Brian, Nickelodeon

Ah, movie-Aang (or should it be Ung, considering that's how they pronounced it throughout the movie..., M. Night Shymalan watched the series with his kids...how could he have messed it up so badly?! ), a smile a day keeps the Fire Nation away.
Funny and true at the same time.

Is it wrong that I was thinking of Crow's line "emotions are for ethnic people" from MST3K during the movie?

No, I didn't. The orange overlay bit is supposed to attach to his shirt at the elbows, and I completely forgot.

haha i havent seen the movie, but ive heard some, ok screw tht, a lot of terrible things about the flim. I absolutly love the show (best cartoon ever!!) this is awesome!! ive heard tht they took out most of the humor, which sucks, cuz nothing can be 100 % seirous and be good or even remotly intersesting. tht inculdes books, movies, an tv shows. i think ill wait to rent it on dvd, instead of wasting 10 bucks..... sorry for the rant lol

All the snark art being made about this movie almost makes the movie itself better than a sharp stick in the eye.
Almost.
You should do more!

Sokka: Sarcasm Lessons
Zhao: Villainous Presence Lessons
Katara: Anything Lessons
Or maybe just Mike and Bryan hitting M. Night with hammers.

Oddly... no it didn't. Not opening weekend at least. Because the theater was filled with rabid ATLA fans who either a) hadn't heard it was bad yet or b) heard it was bad and morbidly curious. Plus the extra stragglers of people who didn't watch the show and thought it looked cool.

Like twilight Fucking hilarious movies but they go straight through horrid and right back into awesome FOR their awkward monotony and 2 D storyline. Plus they have hot Werewolf boys

Well... The Last Airbender can't claim that exactly. It wasn't awesome for it's terrible. More like gallows humor.

Well, it is live-action, so its gotta be serious. Also, his family and his entire people were all wiped out, for a hundred years! I think they're trying to take to account the seriousness it that revelation. I'm not trying to criticize you, I'm just saying is all. Maybe in the sequel he'll start to get over it and probably (re)gain some of his original personality. We'll see.

Lokotei In reply to Tito-Mosquito [2010-07-09 14:54:45 +0000 UTC]
I hope there isn't a sequel. Or if there is, that M. Night doesn't get to do it.
Live action doesn't have to be serious, and Aang wasn't the only one stripped of his sense of humor. They tried two or three times to make Sokka funny and failed at it. Even when quoting the show, the delivery was so bland that it didn't really come across as funny. In the show, when Katara accidentally freezes Sokka and he declairs, "Katara!" it always cracked me up because of how desperate and whiny he was. In the movie, when the same thing happened, the delivery of the line was exasperated and firm, and thus lost a lot of it's humor. One of the things I love about the show is how funny it is in the face of all odds, and the movie completely removed that aspect.

You might be right. But I still think its a good movie. If there is a sequel, they'll might make it more like the cartoon with all its humor.

Nope, M. Night plans on making it darker. [link]
M. Night fully intended to make the series 'dark' and to remove many of the humor elements. However, it's clearly backfired.

I knew it'll be darker, because of Azula. The final movie will probably be climactic!
