For quite some time, I wanted to draw something like this! After searching for feathers on google image, I couldn't really find one in the shape and style I wanted so I made up my own. So don't ask me what bird this is from because I have absolutely no clue xD Lets just say it is from an exotic creature yet to be discovered. Anyways, I felt like this piece really allowed me to experiment with a whole new platter of colours, forcing me to choose colours that would work well together. You can't notice in the photo, but I actually used dark green for the shading of the feather rather than only black. Shading with colour is so much more than just shifting the brightness or saturation of a colour. It also requires shifting hues! I'm really looking forward to drawing more feathers to practice my understanding of colour. I'm honored to be able to show it to you guys!I want to give a huge thank you to my dear friend AuburnGeek for providing me so many colour theory tutorials and resources! I haven't attended an art class in 2 years xD But I've been watching drawing tutorials and learning a bunch of the basics and such.
Haven't found a direct application for it yet, but I may be subconsciously implementing them in my art xD Thank you so much Neko!!

wow really nice colors I love where they meet the way they bleed together giving a nice blend bringing out more then just the 2 main colors. I see a few spots that look like a greenish yellow even tho you don't have the pencils used for it. it's really amazing you can get the look with just these pencils. not sure where this would come off the bird but it be a beautiful bird

I'd imagine this would be a secondary, or a secondary covert feather. Certainly not the primary ones used for breaking the wind cuz it seems too delicate. Maybe I should make my own imaginary bird as well xD

The colors are stunning! I think you've done an excellent job. I particularly love all the deep blues and purples, and the color combinations you used are just lovely in general. It looks great!

Thanks! It's composition looks like a mix of Twilight and Starlight so maybe that's where the wise and calm came from xD
