because they are trading money for data. but if someone wants to buy something to draw on it that's all their business.

Also for people who do not have the ability to draw well themselves (like me!) these are great for providing references when commissioning further art.

Let me help you re-phrase that. They would be trading money for artwork. No matter how you look at it, this is a piece of art someone has taken time to draw/work on/design. Dunno why someone wouldn't buy someone else's work. If I had the money, I'd buy this in a second for my characters.
