Hello, I'm Leonard Nimoy. The following tale of alien encounters is true, and by true I mean false. It's all lies, but they're entertaining lies, and in the end isn't that the real truth? The answer...is "no"

I think it would have been better if he were holding a crystal skull instead since, bigfoot is already in the background.Β Still, this is cool and I loved that show.Β

If any mystery is synonymous with "In Search Of.." it's Bigfoot That's why Nimoy is holding that footprint.

Great portrait as usual!Β Still . . . I watched all the (supposedly) true strange phenomena shows and movies I could, from One Step Beyond to Unsolved Mysteries.Β Heck, I caught most of those "Sunn Classic Films" in the '70s -- but I've never seen one second of In Search Of . . .

The Nimoy original is the best, of course. They did a revival some years ago with Mitch Pileggi as the host.

Β On a more serious note, Mr Leonard Nimoy would have made a marvellous casting choice for a paranormal investigator in a Horror Movie - the local Ven Helsing, if you will!Β Β

Definitely the actor, as many of the outfits of the period were redolent of carpeting and old furniture coverings.Β

When the show hit the Eighties Nimoy went more to "hip TV professor" style of outfit, which was some sort of improvement.Β

Nimoy is good in anything But yes, a period piece with him playing one of those classic ghost hunters, like Carnacki or John Silence, would've been very cool.

I think he would fit right into that sort of profile, maybe even in the Lovecraft mythos. He could play one of the characters in his stories like Herbert West or the narrator of Whisperer in Darkness.Β

The Bigfoot & Yeti episodes were some of the best ones, no doubt! Yeah I was certain Bigfoot lived down in the woods at the bottom of the hill where my childhood home was located. Went back to visit some years ago and the entirety of it had been uprooted for a subdivision. So yeah, I understand what you mean about the Big Guy staying far away from us!Β

I think Bigfoot might be a modern variation of the ancestral memory we Homo sapiens had of encounters with the other human strains from the Paleolithic eras. Bigfoot will never Die!

As it so happens.... A series of TV specials about UFOs, alien contact, and cryptid creatures were made in the early-mid Seventies, and were popular enough that a TV show was pitched. Nimoy got picked to be the host, no doubt with an eye towards an audience and it ran for several seasons! My favorite site has the entire run of broadcast episodes and the initial TV specials.Β
