Iβve seen the film in the first episode of MST3K Season 11, and I gotta say. While this film is hilariously bad for its bad effects, I still had a bit fun of watching it, its allot better then Dragon Wars.

Well, the Danish Reptilicus is obviously some kind of impenetreble satire, with silly musical numbers injected into it. And the gap-toothed farmer character gives off a distinct pedo vibe in the original.

I saw a clip of the original danish version where Dirk Parser sings a song about Reptilicus with some school kids.
I kinda halfway expected Hugo and Rita to join in (kudos to anybody who gets that reference). Β

You have the US distributed version, which tries to be dead series about the whole thing, "Giant Claw"-style". Then you have the original Danish version, with comical music numbers, and a distinctly satirical slant.

The thing with a giant monster film sone by a country where there is no previous film like that is how they are going to do it technically? Puppets? Stop Motion? Suit? I think the first is the most
economical and has the most access to a parallel art form (puppetry).
Yeah in murica those old films were always trying to be presented with an air of authority, always using some announcer. you wanna tell the guy to shut his trap.

The ultimate Late Show movie -- they aired it around here once every few months in the '60s!Β And did a TV Sitcom character, anyone from Gomer Pyle to the Beverley Hillbillies, go to a drive-in -- guess what was showing!
Judging by the guy in the lower left corner, you are aware that the novelization on REPTILICUS was a porn book (along with GORGO and KONGA, I believe).
There's a quality that seems to have faded from good ol' monster flicks since about 1980.Β I scour stores and flea markets and the Internet for things from the 50s to the 70s -- DINOSAURUS!, X-THE UNKNOWN, BEWARE--THE BLOB, ANGRY RED PLANET, GREEN SLIME, ISLAND OF TERROR, DAY OF THE TRIFFIDS, etc.Β I'd watch them any time!Β OTOH, I wouldn't click on the TV for SHARKTOPUS, DINOCROC, PIRANHACONDA, or whatever the hell else they're churning out on SyFy.
