Description
This idea has been floating in my mind for a good while now. I couldn't bring myself to draw it because it's hard to see these characters so sad! But when I came across some old markers I'd stashed away I thought "Why not? I'll give it a shot!" Thus a draft was made! The idea for this came to me while watching "Pooh's Grand Adventure". For those who have not seen it, the basic sum up is simply this: Christopher Robin starts school and the Pooh characters don't know where he went and go on a quest to find him. It's a surprisingly dark movie for a Winnie the Pooh movie. Of course it has a happy ending and all turns out well but still... it hints that Christopher Robin is growing up.
What will happen to these characters once Christopher outgrows them? Will their personalities cease to exist? They're all part of Christopher Robin's child like imagination, right? Either way, this is just an interpritation as to how they could react if/when this happens.
I figured Rabbit is the closet thing they have to a "parent" since he's the only one with (semi) common sense and actually gets things done. I can easily see him being the first to understand what's happening and comforting everyone else when reality hits them one at a time.
Here Rabbit is holding a tearful but confused Pooh Bear while surrounded by his grieving companions. I tried to get his facial expression so it looks like he's just beginning to slowly understand that his best friend has left him for good.
Sigh. I know it's needlessly angsty and dramatic. But for whatever reason drawing angst is a fascinating experience for me...especially with usually upbeat and happy characters.
Please keep in mind this is just a draft. I know it's full of problems and mistakes, but I wanted to share it anyway. Maybe get some feedback how my next draft can be better? So please! Advice is very much appreciated.
Thanks for bearing with me. Kudos if you actually took time to read my ramblings. XD Thanks for stopping by. There will be more to come!
Medium: Markers and illustration pens. Slightly edited in Paint.

Pooh's Grand Adventure in my opinion was the only direct-to-video Pooh movie that really tried. What I mean is that it doesn't feel like just another cash grab. Even though it has a much darker and depressing vibe than the other Pooh movies, it genuinely tried to have a real plot with some heavy Character Development, and for the most part, it succeeded. I had the movie on VHS when I was a kid, and I watched it all the time.

I 100% agree. The character development in this movie is what really grabbed my attention. I wish I grew up with this movie!

Maybe it's just favorite character bias but I probably feel for Rabbit the most. He constantly gets his garden ruined, has to go through the whole Kessie thing, is deserted by his friends in an alternate future in Springtime With Roo and now this. Poor guy.

I know, right? He puts up with so much! He's my favorite character too. (Tigger's a close second, I admit)
I just love how expressive he is. He's an absolute delight to draw with his large eyes, slightly limp ears, and big hairy eyebrows. He's also a character I frequently find myself wanting to scoop up in a big bear hug...especially when he gets him and his friends lost in Pooh's Grand Adventure. When he breaks down and admits he's been lost and disoriented for hours I just felt so bad for him. Not to mention what he had to go through with Kessie. Ohh the feels!!

Eeyore is actually my 2nd favorite with Piglet in 3rd place. I personally think Tigger is kind of overrated and in-your-face, particularly with all that merchandise. I don't hate him, I was just never a huge Tigger fan. I think my favorite as a kid was a tie between Rabbit and Piglet.

I didn't think much about Piglet very much when I was growing up. I thought he was ok but not very interesting. I appreciate him a lot more now though.
I have a soft spot for Tigger though and likely always will. Yeah he's overrated but eh...that doesn't bother me.
I really need to get to work and draw more drafts/sketches of this!

What of the Owl?
he is basically their grandfather, when first I saw this pic... I thought that the owl had died...
I see you showed very different stages of grief with each face... possible the best you could do is focus more on their faces then the rest of their bodies... BIGGER HEADS

Mmm...good point about Owl. To be honest he did come to mind a couple times, but I wasn't sure how I could include him. Plus, the movie mentioned above starred only these 5 so that's most likely why I focused only on them. Maybe I can figure out how to include Owl in a future draft.

lol, why so sad now.. I said your pic was good didn't I
as long as something stimulates though and changes perspectives... it must be good... unless all the feelings felt are to the hate of the art, and the change perspective is that all hope for the future word artist, is meaningless... your ok

Oh hehe. I was using the "sad face" because you mentioned "Poor Eeyore". It was a more "Yeah. He could use some comfort " thing. Sorry for the confusion! My bad! Thank you so much for your encouragement otherwise.
You are very kind to take time helping me out.
