The topic was "A splash of color" which we were to interpret as we saw fit. I chose to focus on purple as I feel it a beautiful color with multiple contrasting meanings and applications. Purple is the rarest color found in nature, which made it very hard to acquire and use for artisans and cloth dyers in the past. It is a color that has been historically associated with royalty, but it is also the color of abuse and bruises. Concepts of a dual nature have always been fascinating to me, and personally I find purple a very comforting, calming and stylish color. I hope this piece successfully reflects my feelings for it.
