I really like the concept behind this. It's like he's trying to stop time or turn it back, but doing so is impossible no matter how hard he fights.

Hmmm, the brush strokes are hard, I think Quachir hit it on the head, though, use the strokes to create a texture. If you can't avoid them, make them work for you.
