i went back and restarted from about halfway through the game when i got her killed

My favorite character in the game and the woman that I romanced.(Paragon style, I wasn't going to break her psyche any more than it already is by pumping and dumping). I cried when she got killed during my suicide mission. (BTW, IMO her alternate outfit looks a hundred times better.)

Well, any character can die in the final missions for ME-2, including Shepard. I played through multiple times, and had everyone live, or just 3 live (none of which I had their loyalty as well).
I love Jack too, and wish they would have opened her vulnerable side up a bit more.
Personally, I think that Jack doesn't feel like she can be good enough for Shepard, but wants that very baddly. Shep is a hero twice over, while she has been surviving, though not very well. It is Shepard's job to convince her she is more than just a biotic weapon. Ok, so maybe that is the Cinderella fantasy, but one with super powers, no clothes, and tattoos.
