This is my WIP (so far, started last night - been working for probably 6 hours +/-) for January's challenge - to draw ~Mish-Mosh awesome photograph in color.This is as far as I've gotten using Prismacolor pencils and a white gel pen (and =pbird12 's grid technique).
I'm enjoying this challenge - but my hand HURTS!! I promised myself I wouldn't burnish because it is so hard on my hands, but ... yep, couldn't help myself.
Not liking the hair - not done yet, might get it to where I like it, but I'm going to have to darken it quite a bit in the process - sigh. Not comfortable with color at all, so this one is definitely a challenge.
Any thoughts/ideas welcome ....

I think she looks brilliant! Her eyes are especially good and I like her hair too ... I feel the pain in the burnishing too

The hair never got to that point - not sure what I did wrong or how to fix it, so much pencil on it that I can't put anymore on ... SIGH!!

Awww.. (sigh) well, this might cheer you up..I ran coffee through my Mr. Coffeemaker 6 times and even threw in a teabag or two for darkness. My paper is drying in the bathtub. Doesnt look near as nice as yours

Well, Its dry. A little ugly but I got it flattened. Now to pick a face to put on it. Thanks for asking

This is brilliant and to draw it in colour from a black and white reference is definitely a challenge.
I can't wait to see the final piece.
Perhaps you're not sure about the hair because in the reference picture, there is less contrast between the skin and hair...? ...but then, saying that, often enough, once more of the drawing is completed, it comes together more, so you might feel a bit happier after an hour or so, of extra work on it...I think it's lovely though. I can't wait to see the final piece. Really lovely.
