edit I added some colored designs plus the two last ones are new outfits, to try out more things.

This week has been kinda weird - my motivation was gone this whole week. I finally found it back again when I made a quick headshot of the captain (original character of mine). After sketching it I wasn't satisfied with his design anymore (what else is new). So I sketched up some more headshots for a new hairdo, and later some new outfits. Both hair 1 and outfit 1 are the old ones, and will probably not be used anymore. I will probably make some more sketches later on for a final design but here are the sketches I have now. My personal favs are hair 4 and outfit 2 - but maybe gonna do some combinations later on too
about the character
He's a captain of a ship that sells stolen goods. He loves money so I wanted to give him some kind of sack to store it in. The kingdom he's from has hot weather and an Arabian kinda style of clothes. I wanted both of these things to come back in his outfit. He is a skirt-chaser and an overall happy guy. Leader of a group of so-called pirates (since they sell stolen goods?) who he views as his family. He's 32 yrs old and his personal assistant secretly adores him

2nd head still (4th one would also matching his pirate's personality, but for some reasons I think Captain would prefer to keep his head clear [at least in this meaning, badum tsss]) and 2nd or 4th of colored outfit. I just really like this siluette, and to be honest, 4th one screaming "I'm a pirate" more than fancy 2nd option. But every design of yours is super cool, really ;w;

Iβm down with either the 2nd or 3rd hair styles, but I adore the 3rd outfit (the 2nd in the colored row) the most. It gives off a more pirate-y vibe in my opinion.

I think the 4th color scheme is the way to go. Now looking at the jacket it adds a liiiiittle too much to the design. Four has enough detail but not so much where it becomes too much to look at. But if ya add the jacket, #1 feels the best. The sachel going in front of him in #3 makes the front too crowded. But if I could choose one, it would be #4.

These are all really nice! I think 3 is my favorite of the outfits simply because of how well the top is structured. The outward-sweeping design of the vest bit and the way it overlaps with the tunic creates a really nice triangular pattern that helps guide the eye across it without losing the silhouette, and the poofy sleeves and structure of the half-skirt-thing makes for the most interesting silhouette by far.

And about clothes... 2 seams too heavy for me and 4 is in my opinion not masculine enough for Capitan, so I guess 3 would be a good choice ^^

If I could throw in 2 cents, I personally love hair 3 and 4 a lot. Hair 4 is prolly a little bit more of what I would go for. It's more stylish and pirate-like. and Outfit 3 feels like Cap still. He's out at sea a lot so it can get chilly at night. I also love the detailed designs on the skirt part of it. But I like the bag at the hip idea in outfit 4. Cap could keep his money/personal possessions he wants to keep safe inside the bag. Outfit 2's silhouette is still similar to the original. so ya could still keep the long vest/jacket he wears. If that's what you want still. These all look great tho! <3

I have all but banned myself from making redesigns of my characters as a result.
I'd be careful making the design to intricate, if your planning to tell this story in comic form, as this will greatly extend the time it takes to do the project. Of course your pretty quick regardless.

Hair 4 but outfit 3 is my fave. it has good long term redrawability too for casual fun doodling. i love going ham on initial designs but i find when i do go in that extra mile on the details, those are the characters i dont draw as often.Β
