Description
This piece took me forever. And the fact that I animated it was something I hadn’t originally planned to do. BUT NONETHELESS, I AM VERY PLEASED. This whole picture is inspired by a role-play with tumblr user theburgermaster, where Phoenix's Trucy and Apollo get murdered.
The story goes, Phoenix came to the office one day and found a letter. It stated that he was to bring $10,000 to the courthouse or else Trucy and Apollo lose their lives. Phoenix tried to gather the money up, tried to get the police to help, but in the end, he couldn’t find the help he needed.
So he tried to call Miles Edgeworth, his last hope. Unfortunately, Miles was overseas, and the time difference caused Miles to miss Phoenix’s call.
In the end, Trucy and Apollo are murdered right before Phoenix’s eyes and this picture shows that Phoenix doesn’t have the energy to take Miles’ calls, to which he receives an abundance of, for he’s too busy crying. The cracked locket symbolizes how Phoenix is feeling at the loss of his daughter and employee…

*takes off her earring. Imagine Widget stopped working. Athena sees pictures of Apollo and Trucy and their death as Phoenix pictured it in his mind. Wears her earring again, then, stunned by his memories, falls on him, holding him tight in her arms*
Athena:"Losing a child and a colleague..."
Phoenix:"How did you know?"
Athena:"I experienced your pain, here and now. It's my gift and my curse. Supernatural sensitivity to feelings."
Phoenix:"None of that matters now. I have nothing left worth living for. You said you're a defense lawyer, didn't you? From now on, this is the Cykes Law Offices. As for me, I'll vanish."
Athena:"Stop! Please. I... I need you. I need your experience. "
Phoenix:"No. I just met you, and yet I wished I had never. Because I'll hurt even more when I'll lose you."
Athena:"... Even if that happens, you must not give up. You don't have a reason? Let's find it together."
