Was most fortunate to be asked to write a chapter for the upcoming Digital Painting Techniques Vol. 4 so I painted this as a tutorial piece to demonstrate my approach, painting metals, liquids, calculating reflections and yes, illustrating psychotic pets.Do not build one of these at home... water and electricity together are not your friend.

Its for a digital painting annual/book that'll come out later in the year. Dont think its going online though. Just imagine I'm saying boring and pretentious stuff about colour theory, structural semantic rhetoric, golden ratios and cultural allegories in a visual medium. It wont be, but if you can imagine me doing it, give me a cultured british accent and a wicked bowler hat

It reminds me of "Bob" the goldfish from the "Earthworm Jim" TV series.

I'm sure I read an Earthworm Jim comic at some point, but I dont remember Bob.. even after I googled him. Love eathworm jim though... used to have a figurine of him sitting on my desk. Dont know what happened to it... maybe Bob got to him!

The way you render the water and metal is pretty amazing. Now you need to do a high-tech Tom and Jerry to round it all out.
