More starwars silliness. The original sketch was even sillier, with rollerskates, metal tin cans and a sign that read Pink Bantha Taxi service. Thank goodness for my levels of self control where I've only kept the 'classy' gags in there

Yes, we are all well. Although it was a very long earthquake, we had a lot of destruction. That if much frightened. Two minutes were eternal. Thanks my friend ... confirmed, we are all alive!!

If you watch the original movie, the Banthas are REALLY slow moving in them. Its because the tusken raiders had run out of carrots.

A while back I thought it would be fun to do a starwars spoof poster, pretty much just to amuse myself and have been posting the various elements as individual pictures as I complete them. Just got to finish C3pO and R2D2 and the thing will be done!
As for the hair, I really liked a lot of the shapes I got on my pencil sketch, so created masks for a lot of the individual hairs and then painted them with a soft brush. Rather time consuming and the hairs I painted like that came out a little to sharp and look a bit different in style to other parts of the picture. There are a few things about this one that I'd probably do a bit differently if I did it again, but its all about the learning!

Thanks Dave for the insight. I'd assumed that's how you painted them, but as I'm new to digital painting, so it's good to hear from the horse's mouth (so to speak). Looking good so far..can't wait to see the final image!
I want to paint a Space Balls poster emulating the compositions of the Star Wars painted posters (although rendered in my style..not so Struzan-y). And where's Space Balls the prequel, like I heard about? It could be a lot of fun...picking apart the last three SW pics, as well as making fun of this generation's blockbuster sci-fi movies (Avatar, Matrix......)

Oh....OD...how you amaze and inspire.
And Snuffy never looked so good. Amazing to see how careers change and develop. Why I remember the first appearance of Oscar the Grouch as the deadly Wampa. Sure he lost a lot of weigh after that, and stopped doing his skin bleaching treatments...but he never reached that same level of Brando-esque commitment to a role.
