Did a quick little pencil sketch of a woman on a llama (see iddy bitty little pic in corner - no its not a coffee stain, its a woman on a llama). Kind of like how it was working, so decided to do a tighter, larger sketch of the 'Llama queen'.Channelled a little Frazetta in the figure I think - thats what I kind of liked about the initial sketch.
Don't know if I'll ever get around to finishing it properly, but here it tis so far.

Its the regal llama queen expression. She spent hours in front of a mirror practicing it.

Just came to my mind an old Peruvian legend about four sisters called Mama (The Four Mamas).
One of them, which I believe was named Mama Nuaca or something like this, was a great warrior and the legend tells tha she defeated an army alone (South American Red Sonja?).
Does this inspire you?

that is so good! what do you recommend for a new artist? i am reading and practicing from Bridgmans drawing from life complete edition. i any advice on practice techniques or anything you're a master!

Thanks! I practiced from Brigmans in college too! - still have the books on my bookshelf. Great for modulizing the body into working bits.
I took some life drawing classes and fitness magazines were helpful too. I used to fill sketchbooks of people I saw on public transport, saw in meetings etc. I always felt it was one of those things where you get better at it by doing it more.

excellent work.ive seen your artwork and its fantastic.the pencil sketches and drawings are of such great technique.
you use photo reference of any source for the human faces or body figures, or are just made up?
im a realist pencil artist, and i use photo references mostly everytime.

Cheers mate! Any skill with the pencil, I attribute to a mispent youth, drawing when I could have been doing other stuff. Not sure what other stuff, or whether I would have enjoyed said other stuff half as much as drawing, but there you go!
