Quite a delight this came out as.

Certainly lightens my mood after crying over the battle of five armies trailer. Kind of a whore-ish move.

Honestly, the film would have been better off as "The Hobbit:There and Back Again."

How long did it take you to color just this much of the image? I love your coloring and you put a lot of detail in their costumes here.

At any rate I love how you caricature the hobbits, especially Frodo! Funny rendering of the scene and I'm excited to see the full piece now.

Thanks Blair. The actual pencil/ink work was just over an hour... the colouring took some 3+ days.

You know, until seeing this piece I never realized that there are no chickens in all of middle earth. I'm not a scholar on the matter but I don't recall ever seeing a chicken in any of the movies or in the books.

Maybe it comes to us from a time before chickens? If so then what does roast dragon taste like?

I'm sure there were chickens - after all Sam was saving his special shire seasoning for a roast one - but they obviously pay negotiations with Peter Jackson broke down and he just made the films without them
And of course, roast Dragon tastes like chicken!

I have a strange fascination with chickens. When I was younger I asked my parents for a world Almanac and in it was listed every country, exports, population and for some reason, estimated live stock numbers... including chickens. It amused me greatly that I could quote the number of chickens that lived in a certain country at that time.
