Initially spent about a week on this particular illustration and was unhappy and frustrated with the way it was turning out, so I've just left it sitting on my hard drive for the last 12 months, where it has mocked me ever since. Finally cracked, fixed the stuff that wasn't working and finished it off. Put lots of detail into it, much of it completely lost at this size, but it was great to get this bug bear off my back!Pencil sketch on paper, painted in photoshop.

Thanks - sometime I wonder if I get too lost in the finer details but its often the bit I enjoy the most. As for the cow, he was a lot of fun to design and possibly the easiest/quickest part of the whole picture - he just popped out like that.

Yeah, there's always that one, fun element that you really enjoy working on in every illustration and then, more times than not, the rest of the image fights you till it's done!
