Description
Here's the finished sword song piece with background. Fixed the ratio between the rider and the horse for this one! Unfortunately the page dimensions meant I had to crop the horse, still I was happy with the circular motif around her face. pencil sketch, painted in photoshop, about a week.Related content

This is very lovely! C: The cinch on the saddle looks a little too far back to be practical, but still, this is awesome!

I'm in love...Who would have thought that a lady wearing armour, astride a Clydesdale, would be so...alluring?!

Id be polite about it to her though - she might look quite sweet, but I'm sure she can use that sword when she needs to.

You seem to do a very good job of drawing incredibly attractive "cartoon" (Its almost a crime to call them that) women

any tips, hints, tutorials for a brother? i been hitting a blockage on my skin tones i think i just a couple steps away from getting to the next progression in my own coloring level..

Not sure I'm any expert on skin tones - still feel I have a long way to go myself, but a few things I have picked up that make a difference for me
- try to avoid the same colour all over the body - different areas tend to have different hues - the nose and cheeks have more red, forehead tends to be more yellowy (on white skin), fingers are redder on the tip than at the base etc. Same colour all over tends to make things flatter. Look through photos of figures and check out different tones and where they are.
- don't be afraid of using sharp shadow. The contrast between graded tones and sharp shadows makes a figure stand out.
- try to avoid black in shadows as much as possible - deep reds etc are much more vibrant
- darker skin has sharper highlights than lighter skin
- know the shiny parts of the body - putting a little specular highlight in the right place can make all the difference.
I'm sure there's plenty more somewhere in the back of my head, but I hope some of that is useful. Cheers!

thank you sooo much for the reply with the BONUS!!!
you know i just not sure, here is a prime example check out the piece that i just posted...[link] for some reason this is almost how all of my skin tones have been coming out lately. not sure if i starting with the wrong base or what but i am telling you it like arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrg same thing over and over. then when i do something different i like it and it comes out good like the "ironman vs ms marvel" piece i colored but i just can't get back to where i was with that one... feel like throwing a critique on this one? if so don't worry bout the feeling or whatever i preferr straight up no bull shit....
thx

Despite the cropping, this is a marvellous piece of Art !!!

Thanks!! It was probably just as well I cropped the picture when I did though, coz by this stage it had just stuck up its tail and laid an enormous pile of horse manure which I'm sure would have detracted from the overall design and made the picture a whole lot smellier.

Fantastic work! I've been looking through most of what you have up, and its all impressive, but this one really hit me. You draw beautiful women, but I have to say the horse looks particularly great in this one, and I absolutely love the fluffy hair around his hooves. Truly inspirational work.
