Description
Artwork from a piece for the SQP publications book "Sword Song". Pencil on paper and then painted in photoshop. Originally a bit over 5000 x 4500 pixels, total of about a week to paint. I'm not real fast... I like my details too much! Had a lot of fun painting the horse though... thinking of doing another sometime soon.Related content

This was my first bash at painting a horse - I so have to try it again sometime - really like large horses and clydesdales are probably my favourites.

First try? Are you serious? Man, it looks like as if you've been doing nothing else your entire life. The anatomy is great, and the soft quality of the leg feathering is simply astounding.
Not to mention the babe atop this proud creature... I really envy how you do skin

man, the details are what sell it! esp the horse, the feathering on the feet and the dapples and little wrinkles in his hide. just brings it to life. fantastic stuff.

Glad you like. I plan to do some more horses at some stage - it was my first real go at horses and I was quite happy with the way it turned out, but still think it has room for improvements.
