No, not really. I've been playing around with different ways to paint metal for awhile and this is the result!

Yep, looks great to me too. It has a very natural feel to it. The pose is wonderful and the face does actually look like a real person's face. One thing that caught my eye immediately, are how you painted the knees. Again very natural. And of course all those lovely details like the scratches on the metal. Or all the little shadows and lights where they have to be.
Well -

Glad you noticed the little details - though as someone who loves looking through your work, it doesn't surprise me!
I often put a bit of attitude in my faces, but wanted a more 'sweet' look for this one.
As for the knees, I have to laugh - been rather obsessed with them lately and just recently had a lengthy conversation with a fellow artists about what constitutes a good knee!
Thanks for taking the time to look at my stuff again - always a pleasure to have you come by!

maybe this sweetness is what gives it this natural look. It's in the pose too.
Oh, and you're very welcome of course

She is stunning. Great tones and shading (love her knee). She can guard me any time.
I see you brought in some Norse influence_ I'm curious what the "H" is, and who is this Aergis?
I'm familiar with the Norse, and Greek version.

Thanks! 'Norse- light' me thinks!
The "H' is the clients own logo and the AEGIS is the product so it doesn't really refer to any specific mythological etymology.

looks great man! love the lighting on the side of her body there. just curious, how much art direction did they give you for this?

Loopydave In reply to jFury [2009-02-03 01:05:29 +0000 UTC]
Thanks!!!!
As for art direction, the perameters were fairly defined - I did a painting a while back of a woman accidently cutting her armoured skirt and the client saw it and wanted something just like that with a large metal shield and an axe.
I did about four concept sketches and this was the one he went with.
