Good question. This was quite a while ago so I don't really remember too well. But I think I coloured them green because the person who requested this often coloured him with green eyes. I knew about Jason Todd at the time but not about his eye colour.
But being part of the Bat Family, blue eyes would make more sense!

yeah, almost big part of dc characters have blue eyes, except afro-american, asian, gingers, green lantern corps, green arrow and canadiasn, whatever
but all female characters and blonde characters have light blue eyes
