Our favorite tattooed commander, likely enjoying his first hot shower in years, after the end of the Metal Head Wars and the fall of the Baron... but finding it a little hard to let go of everything.--
HOLY WOW WE MADE IT. WATER EFFECTS. STEAM. MUSCLES. BUTT.
So we recently had a typhoon up in here, and during the storm and the subsequent power outage everyone-screams was just the best friend anyone could ever ask for by keeping me company and chatting with me to help me keep calm despite my rather isolated situation. I knew I wanted to draw her favorite tattooed commander as a thank-you, and this pose came to me while I was taking a hot shower myself and trying to shake off the tension and stress of the shit I'd just gone through. Inspiration comes in funny ways. XD

Only due to good friends. I may journal about it-- though not a lot happened. Just a lot of sitting in the dark after the power went out. My house was practically undamaged by the storm, though it did sound like a beast outta hell. Most of my anxiety came from waiting around for something to happen. XD

I do really like the water trail effects! ^^ And the hair! And, bizarrely, the rust on the shower head XD
Edit: Also the resting hand; just watched the time lapse, and I could see the line work better, and that's a hella good hand XD

OMG Yaaaas I am so proud of that hand. I think I've worked out a technique that helps me get things just right, and it's literally putting each finger on its own layer while lining and not merging them together until I'm 100% satisfied with size and placement. It lets me worry about the shape of each individual digit before concerning myself with the whole, and it made it so much easier to scooch things together to achieve the effect of a hand slightly turned away from the 'camera' as it were while still retaining definition.
And yeah when I did the shower head I was like this is probably a public shower of some kind. Probably a locker room or some crap in the Palace for staffers that got opened up after the metal heads were repelled and recovery efforts began. Public showers get cleaned, but they don't always get maintained super good... throw in some rust, add a detail that gives the place some age, some character.
Meanwhile with the Water... I know that water is best formed by function of light and shadow, not lines. I've learned some tricks, but this is the most ambitious water effects I've done to date. It's been good practice, I've learned some stuff, and hopefully that will make the next piece I attempt even better when it comes to water on skin. Fingers crossed!
And yeah... hair is my fuckin' jam, dude. Always has been, always will. XD

Mhm, and rust tends to happen really fast! But it is a good detail to have included 
Very much agreed, I think I finally got brave enough not to use lines on some (not pictured) liquid drawings. Not at this level of effectiveness yet, but hey, lol. And fingers crossed for ya!

Thank you! With his expression I was trying to capture a sense of utter exhaustion, that feel when you've had a hard week and finally get to step into a hot shower and just calm the fuck down for ten minutes because the stress is finally over with... taken up to 11 because Torn has been in the shit for anywhere from months to years, we don't ever actually get a clear timeline on how long he's been with the rebellion. This is supposed to be the point where he thinks it's finally over, where against all the odds they finally won... but he's been stuck in everything is crumbling mode for so long he's having trouble letting go. He's exhausted, you can see it in his posture, the way he looks like he may very well fall over... but his face isn't fully relaxed. He can't let it all go.
At least, that's what I was trying to capture. XD
